Cactuars

Hey guys, are there any S/M (found L ones) cactuars in the desert? I assume there should be for the quest, but I'm not sure where I've missed them.

There's a cactaur variant somewhere in the woods before you meet Yuna. don't know if that's what you're after though.

In the desert, only Cactuar appears. It is quite rare though. You can encounter Cactuar 1 screen south before save point (where you found chest), on lower ground

Cactrot are in the "forest" before meeting yuna, in the map where there is the "hidden" item, but they are somewhat rare.
That said, they are not actually cactuars, they can reach each others via transmigration, but they are not "evolutions".

Normal cactuars should be in the desert, I'm not sure which map they are on.

You cannot encounter mirages forest secret dungeon, where you fight xxx Jar. IIRC, I found Cactrot on 3rd map area.

I found mine just 1 screen north of entrance to desert. Possibly rare encounter in entire desert region.

If anyone is still struggling capturing Cactrot it is found as a rare encounter in Pyre Glow Forest "Branch 3" map. To make capturing it easier:

Use mirages with the subdue attack to deal physical damage without killing it to trigger capture weakness

Use a mirage like Right Claw that has "No Escape" passive ability so the little blighters can not run from you.

I had restarted the game a couple times (haven't gotten far though) and I encountered Cactrot on Seraphie's head a couple games.
