The speech requirements in this game are ridiculous.

I'm at the begining, went into the factory, got a job from gang's leader Dan to prove myself to find the 3 brothers, went to the farm and even with 70 points in speechcraft can't convince the farmer to tell what's wrong, could barely convince some kid at the gate to let me in...

Greetings! Some checks are indeed pretty high, remember that skills go above 100 in the game, and the game is fully non-linear which means you can walk into a late-game area at the very beginning and everyone will have large checks. Questing around the starter area would let you easily level and improve your skills. If it's a Speechcraft character you are aiming for, 100 skill more or less covers 85% of the game, and 120 around 99% of the game. You can also use items to temporarily boost your attributes.

Oh, thought it's like in Fallout - you can go above 100 but it's not so necessary and consumes greater number of points. Thanks.

Checked the grave but didn't uncover it, assumed it will anger the farmer, and the dialog path with the grave was a dead end.
No matter though, dumped a lot of points from a level up into speech and it's ok now.

uncovering the grave does not anger the farmer, just gives you an additional way of figuring out what happened
