I "bought" the first one for 25000.
Rest & eat repeated for two weeks.
Then he will tell you the ship is delayed and you have to wait another week,
So again rest & eat repeated for another week.
Then Arkady Kurdyumov just disappeared.
Arkady Kurdyumov gone. Money gone. No Car.
Maybe this will change in the next patch.
Sweet Talk, the mob leader in the dock, after doing his quest to rid of his rival gang, he tells you that Artemyev had skipped town, and that it had something to do with the Kovalev incidence. I did not have any more dealings with Artemyev after gotten the two automotive parts for Kovalev. So... I think you were not scammed, but the victim of an unfortunate roll of the game's direction. I went to Artemyev's office and sure enough, he's gone.
Artemyev isn't involved in what's being discussed here. Artemyev is the guy that has the parts for Kovalev's car quest.
Arkady Kurdyumov is the NPC in Peregon who offers to sell you an actual car from a list of vehicles.
Both are unrelated as far as I can tell, unless Arkady is affiliated with Artemyev, and ShiftTab failed to mention completing that quest line to trigger Artemyev's departure (edit) while waiting for his purchased car to arrive (/edit).
Sorry. You're right. I got confused with the two characters (Arkady and Artemyev look the same when speed reading). And thanks for the added info. I'll hike up to Peregon to look... but not to buy, I don't want to lose 25K Rubles.
I've been meaning to make a backup save, then buy, wait, see what happens, and reload if it didn't arrive or if I received it, examined it, jotted notes, so I could buy a different one, repeatx3, compare notes, blahblah.
I might go and do that after watching this Because Science stream on YT. If I do, and there's anything worth reporting, I'll make a comment here and edit my OP to reflect any answers I find to my questions.
Here's hoping I don't get scammed.
I would like hear the outcome of your experiment. If he is really a scammer, he may never come back; perhaps, less dramatic, he'll come back some where else.
Like you said, let's hope you don't get scammed. Don't forget to bring lots of food.
"We made a promise to you and we intend to keep it! In the release version of the game you will have an opportunity to get this beauty in your garage - GAZ SG-1 (Pobeda Sport). A real beast of the Soviet automobile manufacturing! Of course, it won't be easy, but we will try our best to make it a worthwhile venture for you :)"
I think if one spent 25K Rubles, he'll get his car at the game release date.
Cheers!
- letting him flee
- taking him to (a particular place) to kill him or let him flee
- telling him to just let me know whenever there's word about my car
- giving him another 1k for his (financial irresponsibility) and waiting for him to tell me if there's word about my car
I didn't have anymore food with me at that point, and didn't have any salt for the fish at the vendor (and wasn't paying attention to there being other food vendors nearby; not used to them being there), so I reloaded my save from before the initial purchase and carried on.
I guess I could wait at Peregon, buy bbq skewers every day, then go to (the place), visit food vendors, then wait again and see what happens.
Thank you!
I assume that everyone who reads this far and looks for it doesn't mind spoiler, so here you go:
I'm trying to get a car, too. Paid the price, waited for two weeks etc etc.
In the Casino I gave him another 1000 to see if it would change anything. So I waited another week and went back to look for him. No Message on screen, he is nowhere to be found in the Casino in KZM nor in Peregon, even the Mailman has no new dialogue....
Question @AtomTeam : I don't mind the spoiler, so a heads up would be nice. Is this a valid way to get your dream car or is it a scam? Do I have to go somewhere special? Thanks
Had so much fun chasing the car "dream" (Well the chase was fun and the hope of getting a car - but the finality was damn annoying).
Firstly, I helped repair the broken red Car from Dan's Outpost in the loong "car" quest series gathering 20 Kg of scrap iron, wires and getting the two car parts from that scum trader in exchange for my services... just to reach the stupidest possible anti-climatic ending of a quest i've seen in a while (it felt like that just because I was so hyped about possibly getting a car).
AND NOW AGAIN ... chasing the dream of having a car just like in Fallout 2, I've tried to buy one from this salesman. Spent 25.000 rubles for the car. Then spent few more thousand rubles to afford the food necessary to sleep 2 weeks for the delivery. Then spent more rubles to then rest again for a week when the car wasn't delivered.
Just to reach another sadistic stupid reveal at the end that it was all a scam. Which one of you devs is coming up with the car quests? Can the others among you beat him up for me, like I did to the car salesman in the game? By the way, beating the salesman behind a casino like a dog he was gave me NO satisfaction.
I had gathered more than 11 litres of gasoline during my travels in hope of a car ... Why do you even have gasoline in game if we can't get a car? It's frustrating and dissapointing. Anyway, I had to get this off my chest. Still rated your game positive in my review cos all the rest is very much fun!
PS: I've searched far and wide within the game - and finally to all of you out there seeking a motorized means of transportation: there is hope! :) (not with this questline though, this one is a scam)
