Katya or Grankin? [Spoilers]
Any real difference between who wins the election?

(MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD):

- if u side with fungus ppl, it will be the same as if you didn't do the election or helped Dan, myscelum help Otradnoye and make it the fungus village (just like described in my post above)

- if u let Katya win the election (and kill fungus ppl at the end), the town flourishes and all is great (aka the best possible ending for Otradnoye, the picture used is that of a sunny day with a trading truck before the gates - there is a youtube vid with this ending hat you can easily find)

- if Grinkin wins the election, the town grows and somewhat flourishes economically but still it is noted that "many avoid the town during their travels because of the heavy corruption behind the scenes" or something like that, the picture of Otradnoye during this message is also a darker one (same picture as if fungus ppl would take over)

The election changes the ending for Otradnoye.

That would also greatly interest me; up till now i only tried to get the achievement for not telling your name to anyone (and got it on second playthrough) so i never collaborated with Dan either, killing him or ignoring him - the endings are then the following (MAJOR ENDING SPOILERS AHEAD, only for for those who really want to know):

- if you kill Dan and his band, never do the Strategist quest and destroy the mushroom cult, "Otradnoye will get wiped out after 2 attacks on the village"
- if you not cooperate with Dan or kill him and side with the mushroom cult at the end, the cult will send help to Otradnoye but the inhabitants will also become the green-eyed mushroom puppets
- if you not speak with Dan but do the Strategist quest and then wipe out the mushroom cult at the end, the village of Otradnoye survives in the short to mid term but will slowly die out/lose its importance cuz there are not enough young ppl there

Cool thanks for the information, that's interesting, it could motivate me a bit on checking ends variations. :-)
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

It let cases unknown with helping Dan and not Strategist. I quote the ends confirm my reading of Dan and Kovalev, ha. :-)

Clearly Kovalev is the good guy and Dan the bad guy. But the first is disconnected from reality and would lead Otradnoye to its end, and the second is aimed by a goal to help bring more order, and that he does it for his fame is the fuel, but the goal is still good and the best for Otradnoye.

Thanks, this answered my question. I will be making katya win the election then.

Katia also win if you refuse influence the election.

EDIT: I have a current run, Im' not sure that Katia won will be enough, I made her sad and angry at me, the dialog was heavy on insisting that she changed deeply and forever, who knows perhaps angry Katia will setup a dictatorship to rule the whole area. :-)

Hm, that actually might be another hidden ending that isn't obvious directly...now i really need to check this!

Edit: if by "upsetting her" you mean the truth about Kovalev's voyage, it didn't change the end slide; just checked it...

Btw. i doubt the thing with not doing the Strategist quest gonna change anything if you help Dan in the long run, Otradnoye is still under his control, every slide when he survives tells he helped with maintaining order there (no matter who won the election) i doubt Strategist outcome change anything...if someone knows better you're welcome to enlighten me ciuz i wont check it (the save i used is waaay after strategist, it was the first serious battle i had in the game; and currently i try a pacifist run...)

The "error" I did when believing help the girl grow more mature was first learn her who was her true father, and then learn her he had died, which became a big drama as if parents dying is an anomaly, sigh.

Yes, it's weird because the game insist so heavily that she is deeply changed.

I think it worth a check anyway.

About Dan, so pick the cool character option, farmers quest, or pick the brute option, Drunken Lair option, changes nothing?

Choosing drunken lair or the farm has no consequences whatsoever (esp not on Otradnoye), only consequence is when you help Dan a bit but never see him after election at all (so not help him with internal fight) it is then said he got killed in an ambush (but its all in the "factory slide" not "otradnoye slide") .

Btw. on my pacifist run i'm not planning to do the strategist quest or anything related with slavers, might then check it as well.

I would have expected that Dan could turn good or bad into some dictatorship on the area or some towns. He hasn't a clear morale and this could lead on any side depending on influences or context.
