Shovel is a rarity.

Weird that shovel is such rarity. Only one I found in Otradnoye. I broke it and had only shovel handle.
I meet caravaneers and went to some locations but no shovel anymore. Traders, caravaneers have only broken shovel handle.
Why shovel is such rarity in Russian wasteland?

With the handle and some scrap metal you can craft another one. Always save before you craft.

One of caravaneers had it. Also some other good stuff that I see for the first time in this game!
Mark 19 some Deasert Eagle chambered for 9 mm... same bullet as in makarov or TT and such difference in damage xD
M-16 Riffle and skorpion SMG Explosive with timer, Qualitative cuirass, lockpicking.

There is a shovel near the corn in Otradnoye. free of charge and always there. Trader in KRZ almost always sells em as well. I don't even keep it around as there is literally one quest you have to have it.

Yea... I wrote that I found the one in Otradnoye... I broke that one trying to lift some rock. Anyway I already wrote I found one on caravaneer.

To lift that rock you need str 8 and that\s that. Not sure if shovel is even useful there I know it breaks at str 6.

When I started writting my post there weren't any replys yet, but by the time I got done typing def1985rus had beaten me. So I meant to add "ninja'ed" but I screwed up and forgot to add the "ed". Ninja'ed means that someone else snuck in their reply while you were typing yours.

Solutions are spoilers, but that's the risk when requesting help on something and get spoiled on something else. It's right what happened.

There's another way to lift the rock too, for weaker characters, but it doesn't give you any xp.

As an aside, I found a grand total of two shovels in the game during my completed playthrough, not counting those for sale from caravans and merchants. But broken shovel handles are plentiful and it's easy to craft shovels using them.

Guess the crafting isn't that easy, the problem is start with blind crafting means ton of logical attempts achieving nothing, and that's a problem for many players.
