What to do at Roaring Forest

What exactly am I supposed to be doing at the Roaring Forest for Dan's quest? I've been talking to the people around the area but other than that I'm not sure what it is I have to do to complete the quest

There is a hole in the ground with a fallen tree on top that you can go in.

i think you may need 2 ropes, i don't remember if you will use another one down in the caves
Some quests, a vintorez, some killing and then go down for serum(very important), ancient idol(very important) and the "enemies".
I have all options for the "secret" stash in case you want more info on them

You can just fall down the hole, be prepared to take some damage though. There is one very tough fight in there, make sure you are prepared.

You take about 40 damage and that can kill you if you don't have the hp, might do more damage and you have to fight the big dog so you should come prepared for a fight and a climbing

Yeah, I got down into the caves but didn't have the throwing skill to get the other rope across, and I'm just plain too low leveled to shoot my way through the bugs. Looks like I got to grind more and get better weapons first

i think you need 30 throwing weapons or less. But you can finish the quest from dan but i don't know if you can kill the Blind to get the serum, still worth it if you can kill the man with the vintorez

The blind and the vintorez guy can one shot me, no way I can take those out for a while yet. Once I am in the caves though, which way do I go to get out? Is it using the rope to pass, going by the bugs, or what?

You have to follow a hit and run tactic with the blind dog, because he also heals any damage he is doing. For the other guy, either you with melee or the dog if you have him, must hope to knock him down.

Both are exits, but I'm not sure if you need to go through the bugs for the quest or not.

I am down there to on my martial arts fighter. I Do not get how this game want you to do things? It might want to be fallout but there is no non fighting solutions and not enough companions so I just die now against the bugs after I fell down.
