Nerd commando gives the complete rundown on builds. He ripped this game apart in the video, you can feel his anger and hatred toward this game, but deep down he didnt lie, Atom mostly copied Fallout 2's system design, gameply/balance wise, it's dated as hell.
Would definitely recommend watching for anyone trying to come up with a solid build.
I don't think me can create gauss pistol sniper with 100% critical chance :/
And some tips in text
i have one of those derpy builds with max 10 on some stats and perks that increase stats. the thing that makes this work is that you can make level 5-6 without fighting at all so you can skip combat until you are ready for it.
Other important tips:
Speechcraft is # 1 skill, without it the game is very punishing.
Strenght can replace speech to a certain degree and can help in other situations, at least 6 Str because you need Str to better use the guns(even tough it's also tied to skill and you can use all weapons that need 6 str with 5 str) And you need a lot of carry capacity for looting.
Dexterity = Action points, with 10 action points you can almost run from all combat random encounters without a scratch so it's important.
Having 10 AP also let's you shot rifles and strong weapons 2 times....while your companions can only shot once...
Endurance plays a bigger part in this game because you will be ambushed a lot and forced to take damage, i would recommand 5+ here
Other non esential stuff:
Only craft when you have a high chance...so crafting is a skill you either max to 100+ or nothing at all
Technology is not used in the early and mid game
You need to pick a gun skill, melee builds are not viable on harder difficulties and you will waste a lot of resources and time to heal with that.
Bartering is cazy good because it save hours of farming
Gambling can make you rich veeeery fast because the traders have a limited supply of cash.
I may be more forgiving if he called the video "Whining about the game...Oh, and some tips too."
