Massive spoiler of main quest line, if you don't mind that and perhaps want to get an insight of a good tactic in general, give it a read!




As I seen few of people struggling with it(myself included), I found the optimum way to cheese through the Mycelium bunker mission where ATOM fighters return to "help you" finish them off. As you ride down the elevator, you'll be greeted by a group of people that will probably wreck you in no time, but that's where I come to help. I managed to go through them with savescumming (given RNG on this tactic, it's still the best until someone finds a better tactic, then I'm happy to hear it out).

Minimum/optimum equipment you should have:
Bulletproof vests and helmets, nothing weaker
*BSF and Painkillers - those might be hard to get, but give you a huge boost in AP and extra survivability
*Onions, condensed milk, meldonium - to pump up your EN to possible maximum
*Sweetrolls - to pump up your DEX to possible maximum
Anything else I missed that will pump your STR/DEX/ATT to maximum

* - Now, with these, you can actually use them twice - something I didn't know, and is VERY helpful, which means merely by onions, condensed milk and meldonium used twice you can get up to whopping +8 EN, works with every single consumable that boosts your stats, including ciggies, joints, perfumes etc.

F-1 Grenades - a lot of them, they will be the bread and butter in this fight
Machineguns for your buddies - I had only Fidel and Hexogen during this fight - Hexogen with RP74 for me and Fidel with SVD - if you don't have LMGs, give them sniper rifles - their main goal is to spray and finish off enemies that get down.

Optionally, best shield to carry to tank the damage.

Strategy: Tell your companions to stick close to you and during combat space them out in such way if they fire full auto, they won't accidentally kill eachother and/or you - you have to tell them to stay defensive each time you tell them to move, as they disregard the stay order when you will move and follow you, most likely making them line up and kill another up. Give them all super stimulants and only those, as you want to overheal them than underheal, given how they can die within one turn.

Your objective is to stay in front of your allies so you take on all the damage - as lv 17 player with 1 EN, buffing up myself with 1 BSF and 1 Painkiller with 2x onion, 2x milk and 2x meldonium gave me around 153HP, that should keep you alive FOR A TURN, meaning each turn you should invest 4AP into healing yourself with stimulants, and popping in the slots new F1's to throw. Optimally, if you have 12AP, you can throw two grenades per turn and heal yourself, pop in two new frags and continue spamming them, as they're the best tactic against condensed enemies. If you have 11AP like I did - or less - use these spare AP to reposition yourself so you always stand in distance closer to enemies than your allies do, so they don't gun down them instead.

Now, this gets cheap - main objective is to knock down as many enemies as you can in first turns, the more - the better, the biggest danger against you is the PKM gunner which WILL kill you in a single turn, and Mycelium troops with AS VAL/VSS are the secondary targets you should focus on, as they can burst two times per turn, possibly killing you in a turn if they get lucky.

Persistently moving inch by inch, throwing grenades to keep all enemies down while your allies kill them with LMG's (or by lead poisoning) is the key to get through this encounter. In reward, you get all enemy weapons packed with AP, and most importantly the PKM itself, full of AP rounds which will annihilate anyone. Make sure to check out labs, as they have BSF and Painkiller steroids there.

I dig. I did the same , did the luck roll by getting drunk for the first squad on the top floor at lvl12 (cuz child prodigy) with 11 11 11 10 7 7 5 stats (no BSF no painkiller, I had them in inventory, i'm just dumb) bullet proof vest a meh helmet, 4 grenades and RPK + vintorez + vitinsky on the side in normal.

Tho I imprisonned all the companions in the utility room so they don't get in the way or kill eachother

it's all about knocking them down letting them spread thin and go through doors then pop through and burst the hell out of them with AP , I went guerilla with armor piercing burst repositioning between the two doors to never let anyone have enough ap to do a long burst on me or making sure they cannot burst me without killing their buddy blocking the path. what's cool is vintorez is low ap cost so you can burst for 6 then burst/aim with the vintorez OR use inventory to heal and charge or move out the way to safety.

I used timed explosives. Ordered my companions to stay back somewhere. Put 4 or 5 explosives just one step from the place where the "conversation" with the group kicks in. Then started conversation and ran away. Mycelium group tried to follow and then... bang :)
Killed the leftovers with RPK74 bursts.
