How do you trade gear with your companions

I was hoping that when Fidel joined he would have a weapon, cant figure out how to give him gear?

Click on him, and there is an icon to 'barter' in the top right of the dialogue window. He'll equip the best armour, bag, weapon and helm you give him. If the weapon needs ammo, he'll need to have the appropriate ammo to use the weapon.

Thnx, now I got it. Didnt realize that was a barter option.

my barter icon disappeared. does this work differently after the recent patch or is there something that can take away the ability to barter with companions?

It works differently after the 1.o8 patch. Open inventory, at the top of the inventory window are the names of your character and your companion(s). Drag and drop to give companion(s) stuff.

From a comment read there's a second way to trade now:
There are now tabs for each of your companions when you open your inventory. If you need to transfer stuff, there is a 'ground' panel you can put everything into before moving it.

And then use tabs to switch to companions.

I have the same issue cant give items to companion but on ps4 any ideas lol
