Crops?

Have a carrot and a beet or something.. theres a field near the starting town.. how do I plant these so I can grow food?

U need seeds. I found some cornseeds and you can plant them by clicking on the field when you have cornseeds in your hand. So far havent found any other seeds yet, I have just got red fighter location.
