SMG Burst Range? WTF?
How come I have to be right up on someone to do a burst chance with anything more than 33% chance to hit?

I have 105 in Pistols and SMGs. How high do I need?

yeah, with 199 auto skill, my 15 bullets burst got 3 shot landed on an enemy 15 meters away.
meanwhile, with only 120 rifle skill, you can aim at some guy's eye from 25 meters away with 99% hit chance.

pistols, unarmed and melee are always ♥♥♥♥, but im suprised how bad automatic is, the burst is useless 10 meters away no matter how high your skill is, even within 10 meters, when the hit chance displays "99%", i sense thats a lie too, it probably means your first shot is 99%, my "99%" 15 bullets burst almost never land more than 5.......

Sorry, I assumed that was the case since my character had a low chance on burst fire, and my companion (with high Auto skill) was doing relatively fine with it.

So, is it an even the worse case; burst doesn't work at all? But high-tier enemies seem to be doing fire...

This thread is very confusing. I trained Fidel for Automatic (he is still on melee) and it was dumb?

Dam I should have plan give him the point blank perk.

Can anyone comment on the Focus on Target perk/skill? It's supposed to increase hit chance with each shot in burst fire...

That is completly incorrect information. All fire mode on SMG and pistols use ONLY that ability and no others like automatic.

Check your weapons. Maybe your character have not enough strenght? Every strenght point gives a big debuff for main gun ability.

Check your weapons. Maybe your character have not enough strenght? Every strenght point gives a big debuff for main gun ability.

I don't speak for the others; and I'm not complaining because it doesn't take a genius to see that the devs pour their heart and soul into this game, especially in the commentaries. For AUD21.5 it's a gem!

Nope, I think your calculations for burst mode are just simply broken. My STR is 6 and the PPS-43 has a strength of 5. I have 105 in Pistols and SMGs and 91 in Automatic Firearms, but it still seems to only function with a decent hit chance if I'm within 2-3 tiles of the enemy. I get 99% if they are the next tile. I move one tile away and it drops to 33%.

I hate to say it, but it looks like this is simply broken. I like the game otherwise.

I carefully checked it and it work. Besides strength, attention is also important. If you have less than 5 attention even with high gun ability value you will not have the maximum chance to hit, because each attention point gives +18% to hit accuracy.
But if you still think that auto mode is broken - can you send save to a_kompanets@atomrpg.com and we'll check it again.

look at the bottom left! ONE bullet hit! the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "99%" burst, spat 15 bullets, hit only ONCE! The real hit chance from a close range burst, is lower than 6%.

And that is "it works" for you? Are you from Bethesda dude?

1. Each burst shot has a reduced chance of hitting. So at a distance of 10 cells, if first bullet in burst has 99% chance of hitting then second has 76%, third less than 60% and further.
2. Not the whole burst is calculated at the moment of the first shot. This means that each bullet is calculated separately from the rest and you can hit target like all bullets or don't hit the target at all in same situation. Try to shoot at the enemy several times and you see different results.
3. The burst has the smallest range of all attack types and RPK has a minimum range of all machine guns because it and RPD is kind of automatic carbine with big magazine. Try PKM or fn minimi and you will understand how it works.
And last. If you want to know how the game work - you should try to understand the mechanics or at least ask developers but do not blame or troll them.
