Harbor Quest (20 Spider Brains)

The quest giver is a fisherman who asked for 20 spider brains and told the player that they can be found in the SW area of the Wasteland. I combed the entire area (near Roaring Forest) and to the east, including two not-yet-developed areas. Where is this area that he is referring to? Note: The fisherman appears in Harbor during the day hours. Does he mean ANY spider brains, like the ones found in Red Fighter? Are spiders appeared randomly in the SW Wasteland? Or do they come in one bunch of 20?

I think it refers to the redish pink loot object from the smaller spiders that surround the starting town and Im pretty sure they spawn randomly not the horse sized ones from red fighter.

However to harvest them you need a knife and a perk that is unlocked on completing a request for a bottle of vodka from a man next to the pond towards the top left of the starting town.

i did not do that quest yet what town is the quest give in also did you try just walking around on the world map near redfighter i think its called idk if it has ahigher chance of spider events

THe guy that gives you that quest lives at the boat on the edge of the water area on the wastes map. Basically directly west from the town you originally start at. He is only there during the day. I mainly find the smaller spiders in the south west corner of the main wastes map. And never many at once. If you go to the roaring forest there is about 5 there also.

in the village occasionally you'll find a hunter that sells spider brains among other hunting related things

You're right about a hunter who visits Otradnoye, although I don't remember what he sells. I'll look him up when he's in town. Thanks.

pickpocketing skills gives a 2-3 Xp, so he's an easy pick...but even if you wanna play as a law abiding guy he's stuff is cheap and useful - he has the wasp, spider, rabbit and wolf goodies

i think its a small side quest only.
you get 110r and 83xp. if your speechcraft is high enough you get 30r and 35xp more.

The area fisherman meant is as you understood first time near Roaring Forest.
The chance to encounter even 3 of them is very low sadly, like one encounter in twenty for that area. And they seem just as rare anywhere else on the map. :(

Luckily devs added a map in KRZ that has many of them though they are acompanied by their bigger kin. This is one of the only places i find granades and molotovs usefull if you are low level.

Edit: The reward is meh as bautzner pointed out above.

I received and completed the quest in Berth (W of Otradnoye).
Do you mean one could do this quest 3 times in best case??

No.
What i meant was:

When you go and travel to the area Fisherman described you will have a very low chance to encounter any spiders as they are rare anywhere on the map.

Since version of geme that added KRZ sewer you can go inside and find many spiders in one place.

It is easier if OP wants to complete quest to go to sewers and kill spiders than to go to R.Forest to grind random encounters for spiders.

ah. ok. you meant the spiders... :D
A bit rare - yes. but randomly i encountered the mini-spiders like rats and wasps. sums up. atm i have 13 on stock ... (quest already completed)
I think there is no single location where you can get 20 spiders at once.

In KRZ catacombs you need fo close enough to each egg having a spider before to have kill all spiders or all giant spiders, it's not that easy to get them all.
