Only recently did they add female companion, but who can trade normal playthrough and other companions and allies over one female companion? see what I mean.
I think ability to recruit some romance options is great, for example leader of mushroom cult or nurses in KZ.
Yeah, she stocks some random snacks in the fridge and cabinet to the left of the stove, and can fully heal the dog with a 24(?) hr wait, but all of that is overshadowed by your own progress in the game (in terms of food & medkits obtained).
I actually regret turning her into a kitchen NPC. However, I'm assuming she'll maybe be expanded upon in the future; maybe she'll function like the ammosmith, where you can dialog with her to give ingredients to make food items.
In hindsight I think I should have kept her in my squad, but I can't help but think I would have had to babysit her through so many levels just to make her effective/survivable in combat.
It feels like it's a 50/50 either way; have a relatively useless cook, or a relatively useless squad member. I didn't hold onto her for any combat encounters, so I have no idea how she actually handles in a fight.
I'd encourage you to make a hard save and test her as a companion for a bit before deciding if you want to let her go, since you can't get her back in your squad if you do.
