Probably technology or it was tinkering
Technology is the one that helps you with old world things, but in case you're lucky and find the "tool box" you get a +20 boost when you equip it
Also you have the option of asking Fidel to help you fix it, however i haven't check if putting points in his skills actually influences the dialogue
The toolbox is sold by the guy you saved from factory gang 1k

unless you steal it ...pretty easy to improve your inventory using that method

The colors puzzle is basicaly a variation of the good old ''Rabbit, Wolf, and Lettuce'' (alternatively known as ''Goat, Wolf, and Lettuce'') riddle :)
.. and with this in mind it seems easy but i didnt try.

Other wise you need 125 TECH to fix the Turbine

I just wanted to say how much i hate the turbine puzzle. Even more hilarious is that you need to waste more than 100 precious points in a virtually useless Technology skill for the skill check. Yes i am mad.

The skill check is to skip the puzzle, and for the puzzle i admit I never got it, always followed a solution, and no way I'm used to do that in RPG.

This post gives the full solution, but can't explain the second part logic:

You can also skip explore the bunker, there's a direct passage leading to monsters area and skipping poisoned area, pick the quest item, and come back when you have a 100% gaz mask, or not.

The color solution in this thread to the turbine puzzle didn't work for me, and I think I tried a few times. There was one fewer step; for me it was white, grey, white, green, white, then 1st tumbler . Decent xp for turning it on, but otherwise the bunker section is just minor loot and xp. You could easily skip that part of the map.

Perhaps a game change, pretty sure the solution I quoted from another thread worked for me.

EDIT:
But I never understood the full logic of the puzzle, up to suspect the logic is screwed up behind some predetermined solution. Perhaps they fixed this lack of logic.

You saved me, thank you so much. I found this through google, then found it again through steam to thank you. I could figure out the number puzzle, but the color puzzle was just not clicking for me. Thanks again man.

Glad I could you help you out. Puzzles in RPGs can bring a fun game to a screeching halt of annoyance if they're stupidly hard or illogical. A good use of these boards is helping fellow gamers through bouts of frustration so we can all get back to the fun parts of these games. And this was a very fun game which I played many times last year. Enjoy.
The answer 2133 is from "avatar picture" of machine. U can see there 2 green 1 red then again 3 green buttons :)

If that's the point it explains the total lack of logic in the puzzle itself.
Mennan 22. Dez. 2022 um 22:12
The logic of the puzzle is that each of the buttons represented a different thing in the Wolf, Rabbit, Lettuce, puzzle. As the developer stated earlier in the thread.

White Rabbit, Gray Wolf, Green Lettuce.

The puzzle goes like this. A farmer is coming back from market and has a Rabbit, a Wolf, and a basket of lettuce. He comes to a river and rents a boat to cross but the boat can only hold him and one item or else it will sink.

If left alone the Wolf will eat the Rabbit, likewise the Rabbit will eat the lettuce if left alone. How does the Farmer get all his items across?

So in game you need to get all the buttons to show a green indicator by "moving" them across the "river".

Red indicator means that your Rabbit ate the Lettuce or Your Wolf ate the Rabbit.
A yellow indicator essentially means caution this item is in danger of being eaten.

The buttons start out as 1: Gray, 2: White, 3: Green

So the solution is 2, 1, 2, 3, 3, on: White Gray, White Green White, on.

For the final movement the white and green buttons switch their slots so White is in slot 3.
Either to match up with the in game avatar or just to confuse people not paying attention.

Technically the original puzzle had 2 solutions where you could choose to bring the lettuce after the rabbit and then take the rabbit back then take the wolf.
So 2, 3, 2, 1, 2, but the game auto fails you for trying it locking you to the top solution. Maybe for the same reason that the avatar has the buttons setup the way it does.

I did solve the classic puzzle when I was young, but no way I see any hint bringing the game puzzle to this classic.

That's perverted logic to refer to rules of some classic puzzle, moreover it's not even clean according to your explanation.

For me, bad puzzling design.
