we get a base?! ♥♥♥♥ i need to progress the story then.
The second main solution to ammo is to choose weapons with different ammo and spread ammo usages on different ammo types.
The crafting at Red Fighter base is a bit heavy for making it a major ammo resource.
Just put points in barter and buy from random merchants/caravans. Weapon choice is also a good fix because using more diverse weapons will get you saving enough ammo to throw it away:)
Another way to get ammo is to use low tier weapons and empty the bullets from all guns you loot.
More details in the video( as if this wasn't enough ?:)) )

Ammo you craft yourself are only for weaker weapons, it's good to replace any close range weapons in weak combats.
It's right that crafting ammo is a burden for collecting and carrying material, but when you have the car and 3 companions it's much less a problem.
For some more rare ammo, ammo crafting at the base is quite handy to complement other sources.
