maxing out character?
Hi!

I been thinking of buying this game as i am a massive fallout fan and specially like fallout 1 and 2 and this one looks to be something i will enjoy immensly.

But i did try to read about character max levels etc but did not find too much info.. apparently there is no max level etc but leveling gets slower at one point what i understood. at least at one point of the game but is it still that in latest version?

Question is can i max out like stats or skills etc how much with grinding? meaning if i start the game with lot of bad choices can those be forgiven later on that i get enough to get the must to have skill + then some more on top?

There is no cap on levels, so theoretically you can get all skills maxed out. Maxing out abilities won't likely be the case even on low difficulties. Stats are set on character start, and aside from a few permanent boosts and temporary consumables/buff there is not much to be done with those.

As to how fast you can get to 30+(which is already higher than most people finish the game) mostly depends on how good you are at the game, how good is your builds, solo or not and so on, so there won't be much in the way of an answer to it. I can take a character from 1 to 30+ on survival in about 20h of game-play give or take if that's any help.

yeah that is good info thanks.

I think i will watch some guides etc and then buy the game.. the reviews say its good and its a type of game i enjoy so its a must buy :D Would have bought it long ago but time issues prevented me for playing as much as i wanted to.

I've put close to 250 hours in the game, finished it twice with different builds, now going for 3rd run - my character is at level 41. I have the last quest to finish before the Endgame, this will be the character I'm taking to Trudograd and I want him to be as OP as possible.

This game gets as close to F1 and F2 as possible. I got my money worth many times over.

So Trudograd is going to be its own game basically but you can carry over your character from this story into it?

it's pretty much what awakening was to DA:O. Classic expansion. Semi-standalone. PC can be imported or generated there from scratch.

I'm wondering if I can make it to level 100 before the release.

What I'm wondering is if there will be some deus ex machina to bring PC's in line with the difficulty curve or they'll be just balancing for a fresh character and whatever players bring in is fair game.

im at like level 23(end game right before end fight before elevator though i already beat it with this character) and it would be slow going i mean im trying to just max out my gun skill and my armor(not all armor skills just to the one removes the dodge handicap while wearing armor) i just need one more skill which is like nine levels. i have done most side quests all majors i would probably need to grind out the northern wastes for slavers.

level 100 wow that would be something to see what is even the xp for that.

it ends. i'm playing a older save(to get that skill) and have not re finished it so i am not sure if that changed there have been a couple updates since then. Trudograd will import from the final save(end game) though i'm not sure how it will all work and what will be preserved.

Isnt there a mod that allows you to continue?

Hah, I'm not trying to max out my character or anything like the thread topic but after a certain point the leveling penalty for Child Prodigy makes you almost want to resort to the console commands for more experience, since grinding random encounters in the wastes is pretty tedious. (Having a full party likely doesn't help, since battle experience is split right?)

Wasn't looking to play on Expert so set the game to Easy at the beginning, thought it giving you more rewards would help smooth out the process of progressing through the playthrough.

Taking child prodigy effectively means you are 33% behind(Or spend 50% more time grinding) due to how exp scaling works. You taking it is your decision, none to blame for it.

Companions steal 20% for the first one and 10% for every next after that. To a maximum of 50% with everyone in the party. Quest exp is not shared.

Easy gets exp boost and 3 ability points per level, normal no boost and 2 ability points per level, expert comes with exp penalty and 1 point per level, survival is the same exp as normal, 1 point per level and permadeath.

Only getting 1 ability point per level-up seems ridiculous, you'd barely be able to learn any of them even at higher levels.

about 7 total. 8 if you grind a lot. It's enough to get unkillable and you don't need any of those to kill stuff. Most abilities are not impactful whatsoever.
