VIL-a's line "our reports showed a massive anomaly in the timespace continuum." was an Undertale reference of all things :D He though Hex was so old he was a time anomaly. The guy is around 90+. Hexogen is his nickname as in hexogen the chemical used to blow stuff up, his real name is something Trudov, Ivan or Gennadiy Trudov I think. However, this does not discourage this theory! ;)

That certainly didn't sound like a joke (especially since VILe doesn't seem to have a sense of humor). Combined with Hexogen's multiple anachronisms (references to 1941 events, his appearance as 60 y/o at most, his manner of speech that is a mix of modern and pseudo-archaic, his uncanny adaptation to the post-nuclear world), it lends credit to the theory that Hexogen may himself be an anomaly.
