Any news regarding the LVL 50 caps?

In the discussions I read the devolper would revisit the lvl 50 caps issue that a lot of players didn't like (including me). Now the last discussion is about one year old and no news since then.
Is there a chance this most annoying feature will ever be removed? Or is the game finally abondend? It's a pity someone put so much effort in a game and ruins it with something like a level cup.
