The hole does not accept lit barrels.
There's apparently a bug where barrels will sometimes not get properly registered when getting thrown in the well. I think I've encountered it a couple times.
So you can pick up the barrel, drop it right away, shoot the skulls (or melee if you got the reach) and then easily deliver the barrel into the hole
You can also yolo the barrel into the hole from when you get out the gate-doorways as any career (no dash needed) but you can easily mess the throw up so only do this if you know how to throw it from there
A lot of "but the barrel fell into the hole!!!!" are actually barrels that got hit by the skulls mid-flight (they home into the barrel, not a specific player) and a lit barrel will not be accepted on top of flying upwards, sometimes getting stuck somewhere where it looks like its "floating" and exploding for "no reason"
Deal with the skulls and it should work 9/10 times
Yep. I see this bug every time i play this map. Another issue I see is sometimes when you throw the barrel in the hole it will instead launches up and out like there is a vortex of upward wind tossing it out. The finale of this mission is broken.
Thats not the bug. That's the symptoms of a skill issue and the reason I and other people explained both here and in the other thread.
That is what happens when the barrel is "lit" which can happen due to:
- You got hit while holding the barrel
- A skull hit the barrel while it was in mid-air (can very easily happen)
- You/somebody else hit the barrel as you threw it (can easily happen when youre around your team)
In general the barrel flies up once it is lit, it isnt specifically when thrown into the pit when it does that
So, no, it is not an issue with the game nor some kind of random bug. It is very much avoidable
Because its an absolutely awfully designed fight?
There isn't a single part of it which is clear to a new player. You've got skulls that aren't there until you pick up a barrel. With how much chaos is usually happening, how much are you going to notice them? Especially when you're probably running up to the hole to try and throw it in so you won't even see them. I doubt the majority of players have ever realised they're there and that's what they do.
Then you've got the spinning death wall, which again, is not clear when you've just had a ton of mobs spawned on you and it has every appearance of a standard add wave that hits you between objectives just like it did in Trail and countless other maps.
This map overall was a breath of fresh air and one of those that still makes you focus. In fact, we don’t have many examples of events where well-coordinated teamwork is required to a great extent, and it’s good that there are some.
Until I found out you can push them, yup you can just shove them into a wall and they die
And later someone I talked to said how they shot the skulls and I was like "YOU CAN SHOOT THEM???"
Maybe they should get red glowing eyes if they spot the barrel to give a hint "hm, when the barrel is near the skulls they activate and follow it. Maybe I should get rid of them"
I think a lot of people dont even know the skulls exist to make it harder for dunking the barrel
And i think that tower is the worst map in the game. So long, so boring, so much talking.
like, i get that it's a mist that sucks the life out of you
but bloody hell, having it slow you down on top of the massive damage AND skeletons and ther enemies coming to hit you is really overkill
you need to constantly move to avoid it, and hope you dont get body blocked by a enemy
that or get all the skulls to enter the safe room that stops the mist from hitting you, but good lluck doing that when the entire team forgets about said room and keeps dying to the mist
That's a good thing to learn, you won't be able to always hold a corner to fight, being able to position somewhere else without dying is part of the game.
My problem with this map : it becomes interesting right at the end (mid event after sofia speech, should spawn more enemies, like wtf is 1 ratling/gas/hook supposed to do except instantly dying because it always spawns at the same place). Everything before the end fight is boring.
And people who don't understand the end should ask, we won't kill you and it's better to take 1mn to explain the basics instead of trying to revive you between each barrel phase
