Does Verm2 community REALLY prefer PvP mode over new PvE content
Not a hate thread.

This game was PvE oriented from day 0.
Main campaign and DLC map layouts weren't designed for pactsworn being playable. I got into this game (and Darktide) back in the day to slay rats and master higher difficulties. From my perspective this game is VERY skill dependent. There are no weapons or carreers that are useless or overpowered too much. And this is actually fun and challenging to try and master everything because skill ceiling is so high.

I don't understand that clapping cheeks in favor of PvP. This mode gonna split small community of this game even more. Yes, it's FREE, thank you. But i'd rather pay for new PvE content: new faction to fight, new mode to play, talent tree rework(remove pick from three) or even an entirely new playable character.

Why after ~4-5 years from release FS decided to move from a decent game with it's own identity to left4dead-like experience. L4D success is nowhere reachable for this game any time soon. Game is VERY cheap, heavily mod-friendly, designed for Versus from day 0 and gone through years of balancing updates to make gameplay fair and balanced for both sides.

So where we at now? Years of development efforts and a pile of money spent on weird "diversification". What's gonna happen after that player influx 1-2 month later? Are we going to have ~100 people sweating their ass off to get shiny insignias and others just leave or get back to regular PvE?

I don't know.

P.S. Don't get false-baited to an inflated playercount. There are x4 players due to 95% discount, not versus mode itself. New players don't care about "new mode". This whole game for them is fresh. ~3k players are busy running campaign on recruit and won't touch versus for quite some time.

I would prefer new PVE content aslong as it was a free update. Any more paid DLC packs for PVE content will just spread the community out even more. We're not big enough to take much more than that I think.

I'm sure there are many who will enjoy Versus and that there have been people asking for such a thing in Vermintide's lifetime. Although it might be a little too late? I'm not sure. It seems to me like it would make more sense to spend that developer time on versus mode in Darktide...
i don't care much for versus. i'd rather have new weapons and skins and maybe some maps. i don't even play this game as often as i used to because after nerfing everything left and right game was becoming more and more boring. i understand that highly skilled people were playing this together with other highly skilled people and maps were childs play with any equipment above the base training grey but i mostly play solo and i liked for example when my javelins were a bit stronger than wet farts in the wind. sure i still can solo everything on cata but now it's just the feeling of one weakling vs the world rather than one cool character that can do some damage vs the world . some dmg was nerfed, some cooldown was increased, some abilities were gone, little bit of that, little bit of this and the fun was being stripped bit by bit. i could really use some new weapons at least cuz i'm not touching versus again. rats feel off. i don't like their speed. i don't like their weapons. balancing doesn't exist but it's expected- it's not about balance, it's about people wanting to play as rats and thats all there is to it really, thats the whole point of versus.

it's a project from long time ago that fatshark team postponed for the better time. some people really wanted this and voila here it is. they are happy. it is all that matters

Don't care for it, don't care about it, will never play it, but hey, maybe some people will I guess. Either way, pretty cool to add yet another game mode to the game (for free).

i don't think they care about split player base, people's wants, original intent or proper design.
imo this is about testing the waters. they want to see the ins and outs of developing and managing a pvp game/game mode for their future projects. vt2 is nothing but a guinea pig in this instance.

It's gonna be weaves again, but with slightly higher player counts.

The madlads actually finally added something fun and you guys are getting skittery over it.

They're not going to abandon PvE just because they added PvP.

No but FS don't know how to make good PVE modes besides the base one, and VS was requested many years ago when people still thought FS would keep adding good content in a reasonable time frame.

Turned out after FS made all those promises for ongoing support and content they instead moved all the devs over to create the same barebones game again but in 40k paint and gave us the finger with slow, poorly thought out content.

One and only PVE game for me to chill and now they added pvp mode lol. Probably fine just leave it but that 25gb update made me stop.

What makes me uncomfortable is not the versus, but the pve being affected by their balance.
If without the versus already caused discontent, imagine with it?
The best example was this balance:

Warrior Priest: The 'Prayer of Vengeance' talent has been reduced from 25% bonus damage to Monsters to a 15% bonus.

For me this was unnecessary, just like the traits in the torpedo.

I welcome the pvp mode, it's one of the biggest reason alongside mods that made L4D2 as big as it STILL is today. I don't see the negative of having an optional gamemode that is on top fo that, free. That they could have spent their resources in other stuff? Sure they could, but this is still a fun game mode that made me uninstall L4D2 for good.

The WP changes was not needed sure but the torpedo made total sense.

naa. it's a pve co op game, this is just a half assed attempt at FS trying to seem competent.
