ideally you would have people at each valve getting them as soon as they pop up and regrouping after you grab the one you are on.
get to know your weapons and utilize the playstyle they offer you. the answers will come to you eventually.

Shove shove attack is useless if 4-5 of them attack you at different times. You shove away all your stamina to get stunlocked by the other 4.

Yes. That's what I do. But that's mostly possible for only Ranger Vet, OE and Huntsman. I never use Shield and Mace with Huntsman and I ONLY use Shield and Mace with Ranger Vet and.
OP was talking about ranged classes against massed Shield Vermin so Pyro, BW, Waystalker and someone with bad build suffers the most. But maybe they should.
