Dark Omens Cataclysm
What is your strategy to even get to the end event?
I tried both with bots and players but every single time we just get surrounded in almost every part of the map. Enemies dropping from above, especially the armoured ones, is a big problem that I couldn't figure out how to prevent it.
There are really no good stand points to defend because of this. Any tips?

There's plenty of good parts to hold, they're just more dynamic on account of the archers and some of the higher spawn points, so it's more of a moving hold and then, like for example if you're stuck on the big hill near the grim cave there, you just have to make it up. I prefer the right side of that area.

However, If you can't even get to the end, you just need to practice more. Figure out where the LOS breaks are and where the spawn triggers are, and maybe find a good group instead of randoms and prioritize your enemies correctly.

infantry kill power, strong stagger and dash ability makes it easier.

If the group is allergic to stagger doesn't use block, dodge and push just make everyone lean more to quick infantry kill dps loadout. Map will feel easy even if just 2 of the party have effective horde dps done right.

If the team barely function go with Battle wizard. Sienna ult ability to dash around while staggering group of enemy from horde to bosses allows you to control and create pocket space against sudden enemy spawn spike. Go double ult bw so you can shove bosses off ledge, safe revive, banner smash etc with weapon use fire sword and either coruscation staff or beam staff, I prefer beam staff most of the time.

I've been trying to do it with Battle Wizard but bots get killed pretty quick although I got cata set up for them. As for players that's a bit tricky. I use beam staff and the pointy weapon because it does pretty good damage against armoured - 3 heavy hits for stormvermin and like 5 or 6 for the beastmen version.
I every map I find places that are good for defence but with this one I had no luck. I usually skip the ambush because the alternate route has more stuff to pick up but after that it's a nightmare. Mainly the choky bloody points.

Then I recommend using coruscation, set multiple charge to make up for the loss of horde clear speed by bot. Have an iron breaker with shield and zealot with great sword, Crit chance with stack 60 percent block cost for bot put quicker respawn on their trinket to go along with stamina recovery.

I go with Randy suggestion as well, find defendable spot if you can and if theres none keep your back to a wall while moving between the horde, think best you could learn the map is to have friends in your group that have experience or at very least a friend group that's willing to use role to compliment each other vs everyone is range randos

Thanks I try it. Although I find IB with shield worse than with dual hammers as a bot.
I think FS changed the respawn time? It seems to be much shorter now. I use revive speed & stamina regain on them.
Probably the biggest issue with bots is the over head attack. They face 3 elites doing that they will get obliterated and even the mod for better bots is not fixing this issue unfortunately. So when the horde attacks, and I'm with bots, I need to destroy the elites quickly. That's not an issue in legend but cata is a different story.

although defending on a spot can work, if you got good frontline with stagger weapon and knowledge how to use it, typically on cata you needto learn how to fight on move. Situation changes quickly and if guy on special duty killed gasrat a tad too late you need to switch position quickly.

So learn how to dodgemove, stoprelying on THP. Easier said than done, for sure, but this is the way.

From "simple" suggestions - get a guy with a shield and opportunist and make him learn how to use it. Behind this guy you woul stop caring about anyenemy dropping on you, only need to kill specials quick.

Also BW ith conflag can do the same, but requires more spatial awarness to make it viable.

Yeah, to me, it's less about setting up a 'position' (though I think someone wrote a guide about one where you're nearly invincible-ish?) and it's more about being able to fight on the move and a generous dose of kiting using the outer edges of the map to then drop down into the trail below and swing back around. This isn't an automatic win as if there's enough enemies about that you can't afford to wait under the waterfall and move back towards the center of the map too quickly, the excess will circle around to your 'exit' and cut you off making it hard to circle back to the meteor.

one players aggro and maintain monster away and keep survive by block and dodge
the 3 other run to broke flag, and after all flag are broke, keep block and dodge and win
you can even finish this event without kill 90 % of the beastmen and the monster, just focus flag

just dont get hit and kill stuff. works every time.

Trail of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is the only map where you NEED 2 shield guys. Good luck with that on Quickplay. Too many damn berserkers and maulers.

The name always reminds me of that great Warhammer strategy game Dark Omens (and Shadow of the Horned Rat).
