Is vermintide 1 worth playing?
I might play solo or might convience friend to play it...
How different is it from V2, i would prefer bigger difference so there would not be a huge skillgap between my friend and me, but not as different that it would make it hard to jump between 2 games

Lol. No. You will never get good loot. Thats why the game sucks.

Yes, it's worth trying, but it's probably not going to replace VT2.
Won't get into why I like it better, but it's mostly that it feels less floaty.

I would recommend it. The map design is much better in 1 than in 2 in my opinion. There are a few things to be aware of before going in though. In 1 there aren't multiple classes for each character, ultimates, or talent trees. Also only the elf's dual daggers, sword and dagger, dual swords, saltz's 1 handed axe, and sienna's ceremonial dagger have the push attack mexhanic. Most of the variation in the game comes from your different trinkets and weapons that you can earn from completing missions or earn from the bounty board. The bounty board refreshes daily with new items to unlock and quests that can be performed to earn the keys to unlock said items.
Don't stress over reds too much as reds in 1 can only have 2 sets of properties to choose from. While some of those sets are very good, orange weapons provide many more combinations of perks, and your percentage chance on them can be maximized to max using the shrine in the inn.

If you have a friend that owns the dlc maps, you can play those and even earn the dlc weapons linked to them if they host. There is also a hidden level that can be unlocked for free if you have a full team that is up for unlocking it in the wizard's tower map.

The combat is a little more stiff in 1 but i still recommend checking it out.

It's nice to revisit, but when you consider that dodging doesn't work, it's kinda difficult to recommend unless you're dragging a friend through the chronology

My 9 y/o son showed intrest in video games with Vermintide 2. He recently found out about Vermintide 1, but usually plays solo because matchmaking is a nightmare compaired to 2.

What? Dodging worked when I played 2 days ago.
From the posts I’ve seen comparing the two, it sounds like Vermintide has drastically less weapons, classes and systems in place that make it more of a “for the experience” kind of game. In general I kinda stick with sequels since they’re often better overall than their predecessors.

There are some minor different in terms of basic melee mechanics like dodging stops stamina regen, and push / block works in 360 degrees. Also the healing traits there are not as strong as THP in general, so damage avoidance is more important. On the other hand, number of enemies is a low fewer than what you see in VT2 so you don't need to push DPS aside from some events.

Basically 2 games appeal to different people, and a ton of VT1 players left at the beginning of VT2 too.

Slaughtered and hanged bodies, extreme blood and gore in fights, monsters... are you sure poor matchmaking is the only problem of your 9y/o with Vermintide?

Both have pointless and bland gameplay.

I got it a couple days ago and I've been enjoying it on Hard Solo... mostly.

The AI are absurdly brain dead and some missions don't seem to be beatable with them. Can barely get actual players so maybe get some friends to play it with.

The loot system blows. Level 16 and I still haven't been given another ranged weapon for Saltz.

The atmosphere and levels feel way better and the game feels alot tighter.

I'd recommend it on sale when its super cheap.

Vermintide 1 is slower paced, with smaller number of enemy spawns and enemy types. It's a lot more relaxing than VT2. There are very few active players in VT1, so you'll be playing with bots mostly. VT2 is better than VT1 in most respects, but VT1 has different maps and the grimdark atmosphere is much better.

There is a bot mod that you can get that improves the AI significantly. Just join this steam group:

I came to VT1 after VT2, but was able to solo all the maps on Cata with the bots mod.

I love V1 but V2 is better in almost every aspect except maybe some maps being better in V1.
