Wind of Magic still a garbage DLC in 2024?

I really thought they'd balance and integrate this better into the rest of the game by now.

Well there are several reasons why it's viewed negatively in the first place. The biggest reason being Weaves. Not much has changed about the Weaves but you can access and use the really nice Weaves weapon skins in the base campaign game now.

The issues that Beastman had at release are, afaik, mostly resolved. They're still pretty annoying but much more manageable and only the Minotaur is the real pain in the ass. Dark Omens also had some bugs. I don't remember what they all were but I'm pretty sure most are fixed or all.

Then you had Cata being locked behind a paid dlc. This is another big reason why it's viewed in a poor light, locking a difficulty behind dlc. If they had released Cata and even the weapons separately for free WoM might've been received a little bit better.

Overall; it's really not that bad. At least not anymore. Some of the hate was also because of the overpricing for content that people did not want. Weaves is still hit or miss for a lot of people but hey, you can use the skins now in Campaign! I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to when talking about balancing and integrating. If you're referring to the Beastman then they're not that bad anymore as they once were.

Edit: I also want to add that the stagger and dodging system was changed when WoM dropped. Although the dlc itself was not the cause for these changes as they were added to the base game but you know.. people like to group things together. Just another reason WoM was reviewed poorly.

To add to the above. It's just not worth 20 bucks. Wasn't then. Isn't now. Especially with a dead game mode.

Get it for like 10 or under and sure. It's aight. But really only if you want the weapons and cata.

To be fair, if you they gave us Cata and the weapons for free (something I don't think they've done; always bundled into a map or a dlc career), the only thing coming out of WoM dlc would be one map and Weaves mode... and Weaves ain't popular so... one map.

And the price is probably what it is b/c even a single map design is probably pretty time and resource intensive /and/ they designed a whole new system for Weaves in terms of itemization and maps (even if the maps re-use existing assets). No other dlc probably required the time and effort that WoM and they're probably still reluctant to drop the price on it after all these years, especially when it goes on sale so frequently.

Well sure but Fatshark didn't know the Weaves was gonna be wildly unpopular on release. If anything they could've just made a dlc with just the Weaves and made it an appropriate price in the first place.

I only brought up the issue with overpricing because that was a general concern and complaint among many of the community. I personally don't think this, I genuinely didn't care how much it costed as I thoroughly enjoy the game.
