Engineer Mini-gun FF
Can we all please acknowledge the fact that the mini-gun does next to no damage and to give dwarves a break if they accidently hit you? Its one thing to point out if they shoot you with the pistol; Yes. That hurts. But the mini-gun does next to nothing in terms of damage and its critical to take care of large hordes. Hard enough for them to get a clear line of sight without people running into their line of fire and complaining when they get the FF indicator.

For Devs. Can we PLEASE remove the Friendly Fire indicator for the mini-gun. That would solve this issue. You've done us all a favor by minimizing the FF damage from it, now take another step and remove the FF indicator so its less annoying to people getting hit by it.

My trigger finger is hella disciplined and I can even fire between allies if they're weaving in and out of my line of sight. But you get those (Kerillians in particular) that whine about it when they take a few shots and take no damage. Then turn around and kill you with their new Damage over time weapon to prove a point.

Don't hit team mates regardeless of how much FF damage your weapon deals would be my response.
Heroes call each other out when they take friendly fire, so it's still obvious who hit who. I do agree with you though, crank gun is relatively negligible compared to others (I'm looking at you, spear throwers!).

I don't mind some accidental FF, I've inflicted my fair share, especially as Sienna; it's going to happen but excessive FF every time one takes out their ranged weapon gets to me sometimes. When I get too careless/tired and know I could have avoided causing FF, I feel obligated to offer a quick apology. It usually suffices to smooth things out.

This is going to teach people who don't care about their teammates and instead chase green circles.

Whatever the Engineer can do with the gun any other class can do as well, it's a team game, learn to play with or around your team.

Nothing wrong with minigun, you just use it wrong. And if someone shoot you cuz of minigun FF, block them and move on.
Maybe just avoid shooting teammates? I swear nearly every Engi player I see has this gnawing obsession to pull out their full blast minigun whenever they see a single slave rat.

The main problem with friendly fire is that it distracts you for a moment and that can lead to getting hit by enemies.
It´s totally annoying if you are holding the front line and people think they now have to shoot into everything because they are save behind the line of enemys.
In this term OEs really shine, also to get backstabbed than because they don´t check other directions.
The worst thing is when an OE gets surrounded and you assist him, in some cases he will run from the frontline, take out his trollhammer and shoot your back to clear the horde...

Also, why do you complain about people shooting back than? you got superior THP talents for your meele weapon, just fight for 5 seconds in meele and you are full again ;)

Also many OEs totally slow down the gameplay because they have to shoot every single slaverat with their rattling. When an amush is coming in from behind and the team is moving on to save some time it happens regularly that OEs run backwards to just farm the horde instead of sticking to the team.

Yeah you don't
But don't be super pissed if it actually hit you once or twice. Most don't do it on purpose, and most players just rush arround the battlefield not watching where they are running and then just run into the LoF.
i have a player in my squad who loves to just run 'in' my characters space (overlapping chars) and then complain that he was hit.
while i had no idea he was there in the first place.

More annyoing than minigun are Waystalkers with swift bow spamming into hordes while Slayer slays around in that particular horde. Play Bardin and you don't have to deal with others not able to handle minigun. In other words: Problem are players, not weapons.

I used to be really pissed about losing THP to engies because I thought "This guy's aim is terrible, there's a giant open space next to me he can fire into and he chooses to shoot through me."

Then I played engi myself and the perspective really made it clear that there's never a clear window for him to fire so he just has to make do with what he has, because even if he gets a sightline all to himself with a horde coming from it, there's going to be some teammate running in right into his line of fire (yes, right into the clearly visible hail of bullets) in a hot second.

lmfao, look who's talking now. Nice to see you flip flop on the Engineer whenever it's convenient.

Guys, OP is not complaining about minigun FF or how hard it deals damage, OP's complaint is about those who complain about the minigun FF when it does nearly nothing if small amounts hit teammates once in a while. I don't agree about removing the FF indicator, simply start blocking the rogue elves and move on, cuz you've got a long list of block-candidates ahead of you.

Heat projectiles like fireballs, firebolts and blue arrows are just as frustrating when it comes to dialogue call-outs. They seem to have a small AOE effect around them because as long as they come anywhere close to your allies, regardless of whether it misses them entirely and hits your actual target they will complain about friendly fire and or burning.

Minigun FF does like... 0,5? or 1? like I unloaded a full (with the 50% increased bar size) into an waystalker that barely came to 60% of her HP. And yes, I tested this on legend, on a bot.

Its probably not possible to remove FF-sounds from when getting hit by the minigun, as that is part of the game to know who shot who.
But we all can try to acknowledge that FF is just part of the game, I do play engi a lot and I can tell you that many people just straight up run into you while you are firing your gun. Even when you try to like stick to a flank, somebody WILL run into your bullets and it aint the rats or northlanders.

it's fiiiine just remenber to appoint all the names of all the dohi who complain about tiny scratches in your book like a good dwarf should

Is there any reason tro distract your teammates with that FF? Yes? then do it. No? Then dont. ANd cut off this whiny complaints.

I personally think, that using it for horde clear NEAR your teammates is dumbest idea ever. And if you dont do that - noone would complain, aside of extreme idiots. If you use it to kill specials - noone would give a ♥♥♥♥ about FF> If you use it to kill distant horde - you wont do FF.
