Whatever the Engineer can do with the gun any other class can do as well, it's a team game, learn to play with or around your team.
The main problem with friendly fire is that it distracts you for a moment and that can lead to getting hit by enemies.
It´s totally annoying if you are holding the front line and people think they now have to shoot into everything because they are save behind the line of enemys.
In this term OEs really shine, also to get backstabbed than because they don´t check other directions.
The worst thing is when an OE gets surrounded and you assist him, in some cases he will run from the frontline, take out his trollhammer and shoot your back to clear the horde...
Also, why do you complain about people shooting back than? you got superior THP talents for your meele weapon, just fight for 5 seconds in meele and you are full again ;)
Also many OEs totally slow down the gameplay because they have to shoot every single slaverat with their rattling. When an amush is coming in from behind and the team is moving on to save some time it happens regularly that OEs run backwards to just farm the horde instead of sticking to the team.
Yeah you don't
But don't be super pissed if it actually hit you once or twice. Most don't do it on purpose, and most players just rush arround the battlefield not watching where they are running and then just run into the LoF.
i have a player in my squad who loves to just run 'in' my characters space (overlapping chars) and then complain that he was hit.
while i had no idea he was there in the first place.
Then I played engi myself and the perspective really made it clear that there's never a clear window for him to fire so he just has to make do with what he has, because even if he gets a sightline all to himself with a horde coming from it, there's going to be some teammate running in right into his line of fire (yes, right into the clearly visible hail of bullets) in a hot second.
Guys, OP is not complaining about minigun FF or how hard it deals damage, OP's complaint is about those who complain about the minigun FF when it does nearly nothing if small amounts hit teammates once in a while. I don't agree about removing the FF indicator, simply start blocking the rogue elves and move on, cuz you've got a long list of block-candidates ahead of you.
Its probably not possible to remove FF-sounds from when getting hit by the minigun, as that is part of the game to know who shot who.
But we all can try to acknowledge that FF is just part of the game, I do play engi a lot and I can tell you that many people just straight up run into you while you are firing your gun. Even when you try to like stick to a flank, somebody WILL run into your bullets and it aint the rats or northlanders.
I personally think, that using it for horde clear NEAR your teammates is dumbest idea ever. And if you dont do that - noone would complain, aside of extreme idiots. If you use it to kill specials - noone would give a ♥♥♥♥ about FF> If you use it to kill distant horde - you wont do FF.
