Literally the same stuff Fatshark has been fumbling through for 4+ years.

What do developers even DO at your company at this point? Everything seems like a 40k style mystery of tech of why it happens instead of a solid understanding of an engine they've been working on for half a decade

As others said, the size of the patch is not added to the game, game will still only take up about 58gb of your disk.

But, indeed, we're not happy with the size of this hotfix or some of the patches we've had. We changed our patching structure during the Gifts of the Wolf Father update, to prevent an issue we had where every hotfix and patch would 'add' to the size of the game. Our new process now sometimes (but not always) results in patches being extremely big.

The biggest problem is that downloading progress resets if I exit Steam... Or was it when I reboot pc? Don't remember. Anyways, downloading all of it at once is pretty painful to say the least.

Mine has never done that, not sure why yours is. If I have a big download I just let it run at night or during work, no big deal. Instead I spend time out of my day to download a big patch then come back tomorrow and download it again instead of putting time towards playing the actual game.

What's likely happening is the current download wasn't finished when a new update became available. The only way to avoid it resetting is to not let it pause until the download is completely finished. Steam is pretty terrible about resuming in-progress updates because it doesn't care about individual file differences, only the difference in version/depot number.
Dear Devs - why only 22gb - why not 220 - or 250 gb . More updates for update god.

50GB in a week is not that awesome. looking forward to incremental patches. thx devs

Maybe they will fix it by the time they do there last patch.
Mr. Lucker Apr 17, 2024 @ 12:59pm
I wanted to play but now I want to die... I will die on cata after dowloading is finish. Improving is good just dont do it every week please.
insane, fix your update way. Bugbear with THQ managed as well to go closer to Incremental updates.
I put updates on hold and stop playing for a while

It used to be when a file size is larger than you expect and you can't figure out why. It's a Trojan. But having gigs larger is way more concerning and feels like encrypted vault mountable drives being pushed with updates. And what are those used for on every computer that has it? Ask the FBI, or people who use TailsOS.

Never mind.
I love your games and thanks for your efforts about the updating and so on.
Just keep going:ellie_tlou:

I groan every single time I see a patch. Plenty of other games manage to do regular patching without such massive downloads. I just wanted to get in some Skaven smashing but once again a 20+ GB download. So instead of smashing baddies I'm waiting on a download. :steamsalty: :steamsalty:
I don't think this is a good business model for getting more players into the game. I know it is making me want to stop playing until the devs figure out a reasonable way to patch the game. :steamfacepalm:

It's a BIG problem, my friends flatout don't want to play anymore due to them having to download gigantic patches constantly. they don't have first world connections and each of these patches for them is over a day of downloading.
