I've had some time to practice playing Shade in ranked weaves. So right now I feel like the hardest part of playing Shade for me is finding a qp lobby that has a free elf slot. It seems almost impossible :(
I would like to summarize everything I have learned so far for anyone who is interested in the same topic. I will reference the original post.
1. DD has way better attack pattern on heavies. Second heavy is almost instant and does same dmg as the first. With S&D u have to skip first heavy every time u deal with SV/CW/monster which leaves u open for longer than if u were using DD. So DD is a perfect choice.
2. Cloak of Pain is a better pick for cata and above bc u can deal with monster way faster. Shimmer strike is alright but i can't seem to make it work as i'd like it to. There were plenty of times i've got screwd out out of Shimmer bc i was hitting some mixing trash or wasn't hitting directly in the back bc of teammate who kept staggering or pushing elites.
3. Exquisite Huntress gives better breakpoints like oneshot mauler on a crit hs without Blur? Yes please! Although Cruelty is better for raw burst dmg on monsters, so it depends on personal choice. S&D is better at keeping full stack of Exquisite Huntress on trash, probably bc it can cleave and has better angle on lights.
4. Blur is very situational. Most of the time i'm abusing pushes to reset parry timer, which is considered to be a perfect timed block (thanks to inquiziptor for pointing this out). This is pretty easy to proc on zerks/monks and some monsters, but not so easy on some slower elites that hit hard. Standing still trying to proc Blur is obviously a way to eat more than one overhead or a bunch of trash hits that can break ur guard. So in most cases I prefer to dodge incoming attacks rather than parry them.
5. Thp on kill is better for DD, for S&D you can use any of those.
6. Resourceful Combatant might be interesting alternative to Swift Slaying for DD (thanks to Demon1Ce for mentioning that).
you can sort of get into a rhythm with blur. with snd usually on solos you can look for a swing and force a first blur, then you can do heavy then block and youll blur, from there you can just repeat the block - heavy to chain blurs pretty easily. i do it here, i think with duos/trios/quads you can do heavy - light instead but once you get used to the timing and looking out for swings it becomes pretty easy (video is supposed to be timstamped at about 13:53) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5HiDCYpDTE&t=830s
