Within the gaming industry we don't play Co-Op games for PvP. I'm not interested in playing on Recruit difficulty they're calling "Default" difficulty with players on the Pactsworn side focused on spawn jumping players into grapples or using exploits to gain the upper hand. You give players the keys to take away gameplay & engagement, forcing team mechanics all in the chase of long-term player sustainability. They've survived this long outside of the shadow of their contemporaries, but now they're back into basking in its shade because the dried up well.
I'll put any Versus mode into perspective as to why they're not compelling from a pragmatic viewpoint. You're playing as either the main characters with all the tools to play the game or you're playing the exploit-driven bullies that want to stop the game from being played. The entire point of Versus still eludes me because what is the point in proving what team is better at exploits or driving fun away? Every enemy deals so little damage that only the specials matter, if those get misplayed the entire premise falls apart.
