Second one has a lot more depth, adding a class system where each of the 5 heroes has access to 3 classes. They can also level up to unlock talents and hit harder. There's a new enemy faction in the shape of Norscan chaos worshippers of Nurgle (and Beastmen if you buy the Winds of Magic DLC), and more. Really though, I'm sure the store page can give you a better picture.

First one is a lot more polished, as fatshark was able to focus on improving the core gameplay instead of keeping a large pile of traits and talents balanced and interesting. It also has the more interesting DLCs and level design. Levels like wizard's tower and Cursed Rune are very engaging and fun (and man the ramparts if you would prefer to play a fast game, since they had some short maps for speedy playing in the first game), and more. Really, I'm sure the store page can give you a better picture.

Eh. A lot more content? Sure! But depth? Not really. The game is more superficial than VT1 and has traded design charm and attention to detail for mass appeal. Certainly there's a lot more to do in it than in the first game, but it's more of a case of it being a mile wide and an inch deep.

The difference is the DLC was good, and the maps we're better overall.

Bestiary in Vermintide 1 is very poor compared to Vermintide 2 too, i don't want to have only 1 boss in map anymore and just rats without shield and anything.

modding is open in the first game while fatshark has a stranglehold on modding in the second game. there are more build variety in the first game and weapon traits have much more impact on the weapons instead of just 5% attack speed or crit chance. the first game has better atmosphere, better map design, better dlc maps, has no beastmen, has bugs that is still in the secon game like silent specials/specials spawing right behind you, much more variety in trinkets and the trinkets is overall better

Vermintide 1 is unfortunately rather dated in comparison to the 2nd game. After going back to vt1 not so long ago, I personally found the overall combat to far less rewarding due to only having 1 horde wave per spawn on adventure maps as well as 1 special per spawn. Rat orge's attack animations seem to be slower than in vt2, you can still kite lock him without much trouble on cata, you just have to wait longer for next attack animation.

Traitwise: scavenger, bloodlust, second wind, berserker/swiftslaying & regrowth are usually the mandatory picks for higher level play. Health regen via regrowth/bloodlust seems to remove injured state. Whilst infinite dodge still exists via seal of the swiftstider, useful trinkets such as bonesaw, cursed idol & charm of the hedge wizard becomes necessary for cata. Whilst good for it's time, the only redeeming features in vt1 are the last stand mode, expansive map content & the bounty board.
