In Game Purchases... for a full priced game?
Really? I bought some DLC stuff in the past, but coming back to the game and seeing the entire cosmetic store only displaying ludicrously expensive FOR CASH purchases, and obscuring the shilling purchases... really?

Is the Unsung Hero Collection really worth 29.99 when Vermintide 2, the ENTIRE game, is worth that amount?

It looks like all the new cosmetics are all for cash... is this indicative of Darktide as well? New outfits and cosmetics being unearnable in game?

I'm not sure why you care so much. "back then games did not have microtransactions"... yes, and back then games got two patches that appeared a long with a dlc. While vt2 is not getting new content every week, they are working on fixing bugs.

They have to pay the employees somehow, and a few players buying vt2 when its on sale every 3 months or so is not going to save them.

Its cosmetics...

Content costs money.
We got Chaos Wastes for free.
We got Castle Drachenfels for free (3 maps).
We got Trails of Treachery for free (2 maps).
All careers costs very little as the cosmetic upgrade carries most of the cost.
We get Karak.. thingy for free (3 maps).

And all this simply due to paid cosmetics existing.
So, nobody has to actually pay for expansions, unlike how it was in the previous game and before they put out Chaos wastes (aka, look at Shadown over Bögenhafen, Back to Ubersreik, Dark Omens).
The cost of that expansion, gets offloaded onto the cosmetics. And everyone gets free stuff.

If you also dont wanna pay full price for the cosmetics, they do go on sale every now and then (as a whole set).

How Fatshark does it in this game, is the best deal you can ask for in a live service game.
And with darktide they pretty much threw that all out the window because whoever was in charge of that game, saw how well the V2 shop worked, without knowing why it worked. (and well a whole other laundry list of issues, lets not open that can of worms).

You do realize there's plenty of multiplayer games that don't have microtransactions, that get updates, right? Like. Iunno. Say... Elden Ring?

Also, they're selling DLC classes. I'm not complaining about that. Thanks for playing.

Cool and there are plenty of multiplayer games who do sell micro transactions and get updates as well. What’s the point?

When I go to Walmart they make me go through the temptation aisle before I can check out. I’m already buying groceries why should I be tempted to buy something else that I might want but is completely optional?

Of course the Cosmetic DLCs were made to bring cash in.
They don't earn much from the Character DLCs, you can buy them for only 1,74 € each at sale.
Be realistic. What are your expectations.

Well, FS's decision was to load off the price for the career dlc's onto the cosmetic dlc (even made it impossible to buy those without buying the career dlc).
Thats why we got them so cheap, and I dont think a lot of people would be happy to pay 10€ for a career so works out in the end

"It looks like all the new cosmetics are all for cash." What else did you expect? it's almost the same for every game nowadays

Fatshart is incredibly predatory with the dlc. You want something, you gonna pay. Including the hardest difficulty, which they locked behind a $20 paywall.

Pay no attention to the others that say "its just the cosmetics" cause thats a lie. Weapons, maps and classes are all paid separately. Not including any cosmetics you may want as well.

People are correct though, you don't have to buy it. And I would recommend against any DLC purchases, especially this late in the games shelf life. Unfortunately darktide is even worse in this regard. Expect to see massive amounts of MTX, cause its not even a year old.

Regardless, as long as people give them money for this "content" they will continue to nickle and dime everyone. They are in it for the money after all.

You missed the topic, OP asked about INGAME STORE and COSMETICS.

The Business model of fatschark is high priced skins but "new upcoming" content drops new maps etca. for free. Its like Deep Rock Galactic.
Red Sabre Jun 11, 2023 @ 5:32pm
Don't forget you now have to pay shillings for dlc illusions
why do people care that much about skin and cosmetic that barely even change the game ? even the DLC class which is kind of meh for the most part i barely even see the reason to use it outside of playing it for the meme , cata lock behind a pay wall i cant understand that one but everything else is fine ????
Syzal Jun 11, 2023 @ 10:39pm
My man there's games where people dump thousands of dollars for jpegs, if you like getting a skin for less than an hour of work there's no need to think so much about it. This isn't even particularly egregious
Primal God Jun 12, 2023 @ 7:10am
There is no justification for the in-game cosmetics price, 5 skins shouldn't be equal to the whole game's price, especially when half of them are garbage.

"But they add free content" I mean, CW are cool but they are obviously unfinished, full of bugs and they use the same assets and areas, it seem new at first but then you realize it's like 5-10 areas (excluding the finales) with just 2-3 alternative routes every time, and meanwhile it's maybe the best mode for some people and they add to the replay value, I don't think this is the best they could offer after selling overpriced cosmetics from the in-game store.

The new maps are alright, trail of treachery is kinda meh, I liked tower though, really nice environmental variety.
Curse of Drachenfels is top notch, from start to finish, but 3 top quality maps that was released, I don't even know how many years ago, don't really justify the 30 bucks for 1 skin set that contains 5 skins. Especially when there are like 5 sets? maybe more?

However, gonna agree with the rest in one thing, you shouldn't really care about cosmetics, they are harmful and as I said they ain't even that good, you can get way better skins by completing CW missions for each career. Jokes on those who pay 30 bucks for mediocore skins they won't even see 90% of time because, V2 is FPS lol.
I know their price is BS, but it could've been worse.
