Anyway, OP, he is damn good. Once you learn how to use tome+hammer youcan solocarry games. And his weapons are worth getting in it ownright.
However, he does not have that OUMPH GK have. so if you looking for it, you might be disappointed. But this fella fight no matter what, he can pull whole team out of jaws of defeat (literally) and his damage is always high aslong as you use right rotation.?
Or you can spam charged with flail and shield, which would not provide much impact, but foes wont be able to do ♥♥♥♥ to you. Some people like that.
All DLC classes are very fun to play with, no exception.
Has good damage and CC ability and being able to heal/revive the team with the ult is awesome.
I'd describe him as a very good anchor for the team.
Basically, boring is subjective. If you like more supportive roles, he's a perfect, impactful career with a surprisingly high skill ceiling & degree of depth with some of his more complicated talents & weapons.
Only boring if you're the type of person that finds a Tank Paladin supporter boring. (Which is okay btw, not everyone is cut out for it)
His best weapons IMO are the Flail + Shield which just like GK, can block while charging the attack and also ignore shields, and the Big Warhammer that ignores armor and has a special attack of a PUNCH that does actual stagger even on Chaos Warriors.
He's a good frontliner, he can do a crapload of stagger and have 3 different constant buffs you can apply to teammates, either 35% crit power, 25% stagger power or 15% max hp increase.
(Personally when I'm playing Mercenary Kruber or Unchained Sienna, I always ask the warrior priest to use the stagger buff. But if i'm playing Shade Kerillian or Pyromancer Sienna, I prefer the 35% crit power)
He can also heal indirectly with his "From Fury, Fortitude" talent.
He can also make an ally invincible from any harm for 6 seconds with a shield that also explodes at the end, so teammates pinned by a disabler not only will be protected but also will push the disabler off him.
The shield will also regenerate any damage made on the last 3 seconds or so. Great for a teammate that just got an overhead on their asses.
With the 3rd variation of the lv30 talents he can also use that ult to instantly revive someone from distance. Which is great when everyone hops off a ledge but some guy still die up there.
The only thing he's really bad at, is dishing actual damage.
He kinda gets good at it when his "Fury" passive bar goes 100% which increases his damage, does Area of effect attacks on every melee hit and heal teammates if you have "From Fury, Fortitude" talent.
He does have 20% more damage against Chaos Warriors and Beastman Banner holders, tho.
Also he's got 100% curse resistance, so he doesn't lose max hp from acquiring grimoires, and on Chaos Wastes curses like the one where air is poison and allies need to stay inside a bubble, he can just walk outside the bubble without ever losing HP.
(Back in his release, if you added the 33% curse resistance trinket to it, he would have 133% curse resistance and getting cursed would actually increase his health over the threshold lmao but they fixed that already)
Also, buying him will give Zealot access to three of his weapons: The Single hammer, The Dual Hammers and the Big Warhammer.
There, I've laid him out for you, you decide if he fits you or not.
Fun fact, they have not actually fixed the extra HP from curse resist. About a week back I checked and lo and behold, went up from the 203 I had with talent and necklace when we grabbed grim.
Side note that, on Chaos Wastes, that one boon that gives 25% power for 50% curse? Golden, simply golden.
He isn't crazy powerful at one thing like BW is with its DPS. But it is very good at many, many different things, all for the low-low cost of no ranged weapon; which for skilled players who know how to deal with specials without ranged weapons isn't a huge deal.
To list off his weapon selection:
Holy Great Hammer: Literally just an upgraded Great Hammer.
Flail & Shield: Slightly weaker Flail that blocks while its heavy attack is charged and can block better.
Tome & Hammer: Flaming Flails explosive overhead (Requires charge) + high single target damage.
Dual Skull-Splitters: Copy of Bardins arguably best weapon; the Dual Hammers.
Skull-Splitter Hammer: Copy of Bardins Hammer / Krubers Mace.
Skull-Splitter Hammer & Shield: Copy of Bardins Hammer & Shield / Krubers Mace & Shield.
And you get to pick TWO of these! Its kinda stupid, and it would basically be a direct upgrade from GK if he had more offensive talents. Its one of my favorite careers because it has access to all 3 of my favorite weapons (Basically). Bardins Dual Hammers, Krubers Mace & Shield, and an explosive melee weapon like Siennas Flaming Flail; in the form of the Tome & Hammer.
