Chaos Warrior Attack Reach
Is it on my side or is the Chaos Warrior got an insane reach with his axe?
It's very noticeable on legend - when he telegraphs an overhead attack, you dodge back, see his axe landing on the spot where you have been and still get knocked out.
What’s up with that?

You don't dodge backwards, you dodge sideways. Every enemy that has a lunging attack has way more reach than what you can see.

You still see the hit animation for every other enemy, except the chaos warrior.

As Pungent already said, many enemies have much higher reach then what you see.

Take Berserkers for example, they also hit you while their axes hit thin air...

Dodge sideways, not backwards. It´s actually quite easy to avoid his overhead attack.
And dodging sideways allows you to instantly attack the CW yourself while if you dodge backwards you are out of reach even when he does not hit you.
All the enemies have a teleport attack ability, they'll just slide across the floor to get to you it's annoying, dodging backwards does work but doing it sideways is the better option.

They need to be a threat long reach for massive warriors needed. Biggest mistake is keeping distance just encourages more lunges, better to hug close and push enemies/dodge sideways will prevent many lunges and make it easier to stab.

Dodging backwards doesn't interrupt running attacks, they will just follow you. You have to dodge sideways.

Part of them sliding along is latency catching up, but yeah, if they start a swing when you're really close to them it's just better to dodge and block.

Just don't stand too close to them or they'll do their lightning-fast punch or kick.

I don't know. I've seen plenty of sliding attacks from enemies even while playing solo with bots.

Yeah, they definitely slide on host too, but it is significantly rarer.

Forward thrusting hitboxes in this game are made huge. If your oponant is lunging or doing a vertical dodge side ways. If they doing side ways dodge back. Or be a man and use a shield

Well, It's a Chaos Warrior. He stinks much farther than he strikes.

The running attack has all kinds of cheats in the background to make them a threat - they can ice skate like crazy if their in the middle of it and you suddenly move a lot (like if you get knocked back). It's not unique to CW either but it's easier to see on them. This even happens as host so it's not lag, although lag-based ice skating is also a thing.

I really wish the game was balanced around more realistic AI behavior and used other ways to make them a threat :( It's so distracting sometimes to see them behave so much, well, like a game.

You dodge sideways during an overhead not backwards. Since 2.0 they made it so it's harder to dodge backwards. Mobs have increased ranged to lunging, thrusts and overheads.

But yeah it's Vermintide, there are times where you get hit and can't even tell from what. Lots of buggery. But a CW overhead is very easy to spot unless they are stacked behind one another. But when fighting a CW you should be constantly moving around him and be prepared to block and dodge punches, kicks, and his quick underhand swing (all of which can't be staggered with a weapon), which is more dangerous than his overhead imo.
