So how do you get red weapons?
I just hit level 35 on saltz and have about 150 chests to open, should I start unboxing?

Commendation chests, level up ones, can drop reds, but chances are so tiny you should have opened them to push your itemlevel and get cosmetics. Only Champion difficulty general and emperor chests can drop reds with small chances and any legendary difficulty vault can drop reds with highest chances the rarer the vault of course.

The chests you have probably have minuscule chance to drop reds. So better open them to push your itemlevel and start grinding chaos wastes/regular maps on legend doing full books runs.

Keep them forever as heirlooms and pass them on to your children in the hopes that they'll be worth more then.

You get the red items from the legend chests or the best champion chests. It's just pure luck and which item you get is also luck, it's a bit tedious to farm your red items, I wouldn't focus on that, just have fun and play the game and improve using whatever weapons you have. The commendation chest are hopeless. I opened 300 and got 1 red last time, i still have like 500 to open but it's just not worth it once you're maxed. Just play legend and farm book runs, another way is to farm legend with deeds, means you'll get like 2 or 3 chest per run

How about red items for the warrior priest career? do you get them from crafting them? because they don't drop in chests
Cut yourself. There. :deathking:

You open with the class you want to have items for.

TLDR: Open your chest. The items you drop have a power level of +/- you current average, so getting more items increases the average in all slots until you can drop and craft the maximum of 300. Recycling items you don't need and crafting more will also help increase item level.

To get reds you need generals/emperors champion chests, or any type of chest from legend difficulty. The chance is pretty small but a legend vault will give you one about 20% of the time. You can also get them from commendation chests but the chance is very small, something like 1%.

Getting legend vaults means playing legend runs with full books, if you don't know where they are look up a guide or follow other players. If you can't handle a mission with two grims then get gud and craft a trinket with high curse resistance.

The other way is to play legend CW, you get to roll for one chest even if you lose, and you get four legend vaults on a win.

They don't drop, i've been trying all day

Oh forgot about that. Only items from the base game drop in chests. To get red versions of items from DLC packs and DLC careers you must first drop 5 other red items and recycle them into red dust. Then you can take a 300 power orange item and upgrade it from orange to red. I know that sounds like a lot but if you keep at it you'll be swimming in red items before long because the loot system drops a tremendous amount of duplicates.

Don't worry too much about reds, just open chests and raise your item power. Red items have the exact same stats as power 300 orange items, they just roll properties at max strength instead of randomly.
