The other two are dependent on vent management, which is generally not what I want to do on Unchained. If I have too much overcharge - I go to the nearest enemies and block. Plus there's the F ability.
That's why you combine 15% with the talent that vents overcharge from blocking attacks. Like I said, Warriors and bosses will vent your entire bar. If we're talking legend, even normal enemies will vent a nice big chunk, it can and will save you a lot, it's very useful.
Just looked, thought B;azing Sinews was a talent but it's a passive. I feel like you can do a lot more damage that way. My logic being I don't have to manually vent and take any damage, I can vent quickly in hectic situations even if my special isn't ready, then fall back and keep using my staff to help the group or watch the back.
And being jumped by a berserker is getting many hits rapidly and thus a boom.
as far as I'm concerned it's the whole point of Unchained: you juggle between melee and casting while managing overcharge through blocking.
Well you also have to consider, 0 overcharge = you do ♥♥♥♥ all damage with your melee weapons just like pyro and battle wizard, but with less spellcasting power. If that's the way you play her, what the ♥♥♥♥ is the point in playing her?
If anything, I WANT high overcharge on Unchained. I usually take a bolt staff and equip myself with as much stamina as possible, keep my overcharge at medium levels, always leaving some for the occasional damage I may take or the fire arrow I may need for specials.
When things get out of hand I hold block and literally throw myself at a horde or, better yet, a chaos warrior. 1 hit = instant 0 overcharge, and I'm ready to spam bolt again.
Amazing how unique this playstyle is for a mage - in any game.
I go with the 50% damage reduction instead for Legend, just because the venting speed is already fast enough for 99% of encounters when you'd need it, and if you ever need to vent when you don't have any temp health up, you'll wish you had it.
