Sienna, especially Battle Mage, is a nightmare
Okay, seriously, who thought this character would be fun to play? She literally dies as a result of attacking too much, which is surprisingly very easy to do when you're in a tense moment like fighting a rat ogre in a confined space. Very unlikely you'll check your overcharge in time to save yourself. Also, venting overcharge when you actually need to causes you to take damage, which just completely disincentives you from venting overcharge.

I feel like I'm pointing a gun at my foot and aiming for the space between my toes with this character. It's a headache and it's just not fun at all. She doesn't even put out enough DPS regardless of this for her to be worth using regardless of these downfalls, but when you add onto that these terrible traits it just completely destroys any desire to play Battle Mage. It's simply not fun. Her DPS is already low and these just artificially limit her damage output even further. Why is she so nerfed compared to everyone else? She's really not that powerful.

She could be so much better and it feels like a wasted potential. I don't remember Sienna ever being this bad in the original Vermintide. I think she was better balanced in that game.

Not sure if you are a troll or not.

If not: Battle Wizard is considered as the strongest career at the moment. The career is literally considered broken. (accompanied with sister)

Take the skills: 1,2,3,1,1,3 equip firesword and beamstaff/coruscation and watch hordes and monsters melt and die. Only problem are chaos warriors, but thats a small drawback.

In addition, her skill floor is relativly low. Only thing you need to take care of, is heat management.

Fireswords H1 attack staggers everything in front of you, so you shouldnt get hit at all.
For Legend and below its enough to spam H1 + H2. If you want to maximize your meele output, use block cancel after H1.
For additional crowd control use beamstaffs rightclick.

For special snipe. Right click while holding down beamstaffs beam gives you a burst attack.

I played her one time and hated it

I mean in all honesty it just doesn't sound like you know how to battle wiz. Shes quite amazing.
Runvald Oct 26, 2021 @ 5:48pm
Thats 100% a skill issue.
Shes infact NOT the strongest career.
Thats Handmaiden, because she can solo almost everything.
But damage and crowd control wise, she is S++ tier with sister of thorn.

Handmaiden can solo everything since the release of the broken as hell moonbow. Tough there were some videos where someone solo'd fow with a longbow. Handmaiden is op because of a weapon and not because of her class design.

Taking away the moonbow, you have a career that can evade all damage but can only deal mediocre damage at best. And i wouldnt consider that as "strongest".

Taking away the Moonbow will result in a longer time to kill yes.
But it changes nothing at what makes her strongest.
Given enough time she CAN infact solo most stuff and is almost MANDATORY for the highest
Weaves for example.

The higher you go in difficulty, the stronger she gets.
Noone comes close in survivability = reaching the teleport, which I consider the strongest, because thats kinda the goal. Finishing the map.
Shes not the strongest for pure dmg tho.

So if you play Cata 3 Deathwish onslaught and want ALL to get in the portal.
Then take Sister of Thorn over Handmaiden for more dmg and team utility.
You're only at 15 hours right now. The more you play the more you'll realize battle wizard is one of the strongest characters in the whole game. Of course everyone has their favorites and prefers certain play styles to others but it is widely accepted that battle wizard is disgustingly strong.

Pretty much. Sienna was extremely powerful as a caster in Verm1 and very fun to play, due to weapons like the original conflagration staff with traits like Channeling Rune, Regrowth and Haste. She felt like a wizard on an Aqshy-induced trip who set the whole map on fire while laughing hysterically. And venting was encouraged as you could restore your health through casting. Definitely fun and kinda overpowered but by no means deserving of the nerfs received in the second game, where both her mechanics and her weapons were gutted. Even the conflagration staff was split in two, with one (largely useless) weapon retaining only the area of effect and the stagger, and the other one (the DLC coruscation staff) getting to apply the damage and having the fast cast speed.

With that out of the way, Battle Wizard in particular is extremely strong, but boring. Flamesword with heavy attacks and stagger thp, Beam Staff, Famished Flames, Soot Shield and Burnout practically turn her into a tank that can hold the line against virtually anything and can delete bosses in a manner of seconds by holding the beam on them. Pyromancer on the other hand is just depressed in the campaign mode due to her active skill being just an emergency thp source and useless for anything else (sad Verm1 bolt staff noises) and her talents generally lacking a thematic or utility. Whether you have or don't have them actually makes very little difference for how she plays, with a few exceptions like Volans' Doctrine. I haven't played Unchained specifically in a long time, but if memory serves she is just a discount Merc with a one-trick gimmick if you purchased WoM and have access to the flail.

The situation changes a bit in Expeditions though. Both Battle Wizard and Pyromancer especially are very fun to play there, particularly with the Fireball staff. I usually run BW with flamesword/fb and Pyro with dagger/fb. There's lots of potential for builds that allow you to once again feel like a loose cannon on an overdose of red wind.

Battle Wizard is the carry queen at times. I’ve had games where I had no ranged or melee kills but just burnt everything to a crisp - while still doing the most damage - while also keeping trash off allies, staggering bosses, and overall not dying because of how tank-evadey she can be.

Play her more. Don’t spam magic. Learn how staves/burn weapons function and most importantly, communicate with your team if you’re struggling.

I partly agree. if you are referring to the weave "grey pastorale" which is in my opinion the worst experience you can get from V2, than i agree. Someone at fatshark should be retroactively fired for creating this crime in video gaming.

Cata deeds, twitch, dwonsc3, etc.. i dont think she's that great.
Im not saying you are wrong, i think its more a matter of personal preference.
Maybe HM suits you more than me. (Kerillian 30+500~ btw.)

Anyway, its a Sienna thread and we should stop with elf offtopic.

gotta learn to vent dude, quickswitch to staff after a shove or stagger and press vent button/key. I use this for unchained when stuff gets hairy and you know your overcharge is too high for more dmg. Trying to maintain high overcharge in hordes for the glass cannon is something you should try out. i rarely see any sienna use her vent/cooldown, bust most pretty much get it or dont.

I don't have a mic rn so communication isn't really going to be easily done

she's amazing at crowd-control, so not so much at immediately killing stuff but that is given when she literally possesses the ability to apply fire to everyone around her
she is indeed a support character and for her title she is just incredibly self-sufficient just by her own, as she can just play by time and let everything burn to ashes

Sienna is one of those characters that take some dedication to use right for maximum potential. Think glasscannon builds in other games, for example.
