but things about this game is, its still relied on the player ability to make a good decision, since regardless how good the character is, if the player make the wrong move... they still gonna die, and vice versa.
Waystalker will make it rain arrows to thin the hordes and do damage to a monster, especialy with a str/speed potion, and more importantly she gives regen to the rest of the team, extending any competent player's life to almost immortality.
After killing specials, prioritise shooting elites once with charge attack and let your frontline kill the elites for massive THP sustain.
Support fighter: Mercenary or Unchained for the Temp HP and damage reduction. Pick merc for melee, use unchained for artillery support. Revive for merc is a trap, your team don't need a quick revive if they can't die.
The last slot is free to cover any deficiency that your team might have.
----------------
There might be a dozen or two of competent compositions, that just means that the game is fairly balanced.
I dislike ironbreaker for optimised play, unless the player really wants to be the tank and everybody else clears like a pro.
For overall damage wise that would be WHC, Pyromancer, Huntsman, and Shade. All of these careers benefit from crits and crits are pretty powerful with countering heavier opponents especially super armor. Along with the fact they counter most content as well with their killing power. They can kill and handle most content for the DPS appeal. If you need more control Huntsman can run a shield if needed. If you build around crits on Pyromancer and have a Huntsman and a WHC popping ult would get her up to 90% crit when done right. When combined with Blazing Echo your team becomes a monster killer that'll decimate any boss on Cata with ease (due to the stagger and damage of burning skull and your allies going ham on said monster best to do against a wall). Realize the composition is two melee focused careers and the other two are ranged focused. Though each one can be used effectively.
The noob friendly (mostly referring to Zealot and IB) team will mostly utilize Zealot, Ironbreaker, Foot Knight/Merc, Handmaiden, or Famished Flames or Lingering Flames BW that just utilizes ult then tossing down a few spells before she goes into her blocking state for ages before the cycle repeats itself. The team will consist of characters that can easily stay alive and have get out of jail free cards. Anything to dump the punish and crank it down to easy mode.
Now for the solo Zealot teams its composed of the Zealot (wow I know), Mercenary with C/D on ult, Unchained with temp hp, and Ranger Veteran to get stoned with the dwarf. Temp hp without complaining that the elf brought healing. No matter how much punish comes out when the ults drop Zealot's gonna be so stoned and stacked. Though this set up can be done with other careers just for the utility RV brings in ammo and drops, Merc in stagger/recovery, and Unchained because the temp on ult. Makes your job easier just don't forget to put shields with BCR and push angle with opportunist for Kruber and Bardin bot so they're going to stay alive for longer. Bots don't output that much anyways and will be a decent distraction.
The best team composition would obviously be the one with the highest win rate. Easy to utilize careers plus being able to tackle anything. Have the community to run its own statistics to find your answer. Though I believe the true best team composition varies amongst a group of friends, our playstyles, and purpose.
On an added point I want to portray an issue about the "best" mentality. Forcing players, especially newer ones, to play the best and meta picks will adopt one dimensional thinking. It's sort of a small issue, but not running the 'optimal' career such as Ranger Veteran over say a reliability of an Ironbreaker or output of a Slayer will result in people complaining or kicks/blocks in general. Tends to be players lacking in skill and will just follow a guide by following the pictures skipping over explanations and just selecting the talents, properties, and being told what to do. Ranger Veteran is the easiest example to understand since the common casual Legend player will just call him worthless with no output just only a utility to drop caches. An uncommon occurrence I know but it's happened enough for it to be notable by players that can't use him properly therefore he's s***. Being asked and/or told I am throwing for picking a different career is just down right sad. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be an issue for others, but to the players on the uncommon occurrence ends; play whatever you want. Or be a meta slave if you want, I guess.

people who r better than me.
Hmmm.
But there are plenty of other dream teams, honestly.
