Is Kruber really harder to play?
I play as every hero and find Kruber the hardest. Probably because all his weapons are slow or useless against armored enemies. Executioners sword is OK but there isn't a real variety.
Shield combos are terrible. Heavy attack with the shield? Bizarre idea.
Maul is good but the slow power attack makes me vulnerable against a horde. Halberd animations aren't very well against a horde, IIRC only the third attack is a horizontal chop.
I played mostly Foot Knight, sometimes Mercenary.
Am I doing something wrong or do you have the same opinion?

I find him really easy to play as I find the dwarf the hardest because its harder for him to see specials at certain angles do to his shortness which can make hitting assassins a bit harder when there low to the ground behind guys.

Also have you tried the spear he has on merc it can be pretty decent if you find the ex sword to slow. Also it sounds like you might be using the halbard wrong your supposed to attack once then tap block to reset the animation that way you dont get the poke attacks against hordes and always get the good cleave attack.

Kruber isnt harder than others.
Exe: straightforward, headshot lights for hordes and heavy to kill elites
2h hammer: charged attacks for hordes, light attack (best to qq cancel but l1,l2,block cancel works too) for elites
halberd: block cancel light 1 for hordes, pushstab into light 3 for elites (cant remember the combo for bosses atm but thats minor)
heavy spear: pushsstab,l2,c2 for hordes, l1,c2 for elites (gotta block cancel afterwards), pushstab to get space
wouldnt use 1h mace or 1h sword on neither merc nor fk atm
mace+sword: either pushstabs (if you have enough stamina) or light chain for hordes (can use chargeds if density gets to high and not enough stamina available), chain heavys for elites

shields arent meant for dmg (and mace and shield is a design flaw, bad weapon dont use)
sword and shield uses charge one to stunlock hordes and elites, pushstab into c2 for elite dmg (gotta headshot though), lights can be used to clean up small groups of low tier enemies11

I like him. Do you have Back to Ubersreik dlc? I found Mace and Sword very powerful to get used to the char. However I can't handle Hunsman, but that's just me. I've seen a lot of great Huntsmen out there.

I'd personally say Kruber is one of the simplest to understand and use. Nearly all of his weapons are very solid and usable, and have a clear role to fill.

Huntsman is hard, but Merc and Fk are pretty straightforward, with FK being a bit less forgiving but still not complex.

Certain weapon choices ARE difficult, the shields in particular, since they are very sensitive to using the right combos for the right situations. Other weapons are easy (exec sword, mace+sword) and others are in the middle (Halberd, 2h Sword).

IOW Merc and FK are only as complex as the weapon you choose, and Kruber has a lot of choices.

Mercenary with exe-sword is just insane.
Sick dmg and great team support.
Sometimes i play fk with mace and sword. Pretty good too.

Kruber is the best
his weapons are the best
executioner sword is perfect aganst hordes and heavy attack perfect against armored enemies

spear is perfect against hordes and armored too

halberd is good against armored but bad against hordes

greatsword i normal/good against hordes and bad aganst armored

You may get that impression if you main classes like Elf or Saltzpyre, just change your approach. Instead of dancing around the horde you just slowly retreat backwards and use wide sweeps to stagger mobs and then pick them one by one.

You are not supposed to engage in combat with armoured units unless using an exec sword.

Mercenary > Ironbreaker
Huntsman > Waystalker

When playing Cata, go for 30% stamina recovery instead of curse resistance, no one picks up grims there anyway.

Advice as Foot Knight, use only Executioner Sword and Repeater Gun. Nothing Else.

On harder difficulties there are just too many heavily armored enemies and special enemies for other weapons to work well.

Executioner's Sword for the Armored Enemies and Hordes.

Repeater Gun for the Special Enemies like Ratling Guns and Sorcerers.

As Fool Knight the only viable playstyle is a true tank.
Your role is constantly push hordes with shield.
Otherwise - just meh. Semi-mercenary.

Mercenary is a musthave character in the any party - because of ult. Also, it has increased cleave, so all weapons on him a way better than at other two. X-sword, mace+sword, halberd - are fine choices.

Huntsman just sucks: no CC for enemies, no better cleave.
And, most important, he takes Mercenary spot!
It was a true pain, while completing all maps at legend on him.

I also found difficulty in using Kruber with my playstyle. I used huntsmen longbow and one handed sword with block cost reduction.

As others mentioned sword and mace made him feel more tolerable. With the changes in the patch I find myself even more so gravitating to movement speed, dodge count and dodge bonus on weapons. The armory mod helps to see the numerical differences in weapons.

Sword and shield can take down armor easily. All you need is to aim. Its headshot bonus is juicy.
You still have halberd. Pretty braindead weapon.
Spear is just awesome! But as with sword and shield - you need to learn how to aim. Once you HS consistently - you do about 50 dmg to CW on cata (on difficulties lower, than champ, dmg is capped) per charged thrust.
Mace is not dedicated AP weapon, but still can do good vs it.
2hHammer is weapon, that do high dmg vs both horde and superarmor. Especially if you use QQcancel.

So, frankly, i dont know what issues you have with kruber. Maybe that you dont have spammy weapons? WEll, yes, with kruber weaponty you need to aim mostly. But that is not a problem imo.

After having played Sienna signifigantly I'd say Kruber is a cake walk to play well. However, that may depend on how reliant a team is on having a good Kruber. Kruber is easily the biggest obvious choice in group utility, nothing compares to mercenary's and foot knight's ease of team aid. There are a lot, and I mean every damn game basically, of bad elves. No one can save a bad elf team like a Kruber FK or Merc.

Certainly one of the easiest, just likely to be the biggest crutch on a team, which may skew results. Huntsmen is the best choice in a min/maxed team because of how powerful it can be in sniping, but far be it from a pug to do well with anything that doesn't support their beserker ass.

Merc can be a life saver. His ultimate can give temporary heal to every teammate around and yourself, you even have a talent that auto-revives a friend downed nearby when using it, and he can also set his talents to share his passive cleave ability which is really nice to mow hordes with all of your team. Exec is a great horder clearer but might have a worse time against armored enemies, Sword and Mace are generally good for everything (in my opinion ofc) and spear has a great range and is also fun to play. The other classes of Kruber I don't know well, huntsman is very good if you have good aim but you're a bit squishy, and Footknight is not bad too I think but I guess I still haven't played much with him, but I prefer Merc from all of them, Footknight tho would be best playing with sword and shield, since you can block, push and attack with ease while having a lot of stamina and working like a tank, that can be usefull when you're reviving your teammates while blocking all the horde around yourself. Shields with this last updated were kind of buffed I think, and are at a very decent place now

I find Merc Krub with Ex sword and repeater pistol as absolute beast. Awesome cleave, perfect charged attack, which can oneshot SV and healing ult, which can revive teammates.
