What is your class? When are you getting hit? What are you actually doing in game?
If you play with randoms a lot encourage them to fight hordes at choke-points, or with their backs to the wall. Generally it is worth staying slightly behind the front line and watching the flanks or rear as attacking there is usually how sneaky rats get a hit or two in. If you have 2-3 people mindlessly spamming the LMB in front of you then you joining them generally isn't going to make much difference.
If you are in the back-line when fighting hordes then be on the look-out for specials, and instantly target them with 't' and try to deal with them ASAP. It's always worth targetting them with 't' as if your attack misses or is absorbed by the horde in front, your allies might be able to quickly deal with the threat instead.
Against a Scaven horde the good old crowd control weapons are the best. Try to get a weapon that does only horizonal swings. Use only charged attacks. Dodge backwards while charging and step forward when your ready to swing. And while charging, take a quick look behind you to spot backstabbers.
Hint. You can cover a bigger area with your weapon when you move your camera in the same direction as the swing does. In theory you could do a 360 ankle swing should you turn fast enough. That way you can cover alot of ground
