Swift Slaying vs Resourceful combatant
In every "Legend true solo" run i see they are using swift slaying, but for a more teamplay based build i guess resourceful combatant will be better? Im using it on Mercenary and for healing its great. And also, when using a shield, it would be better Off balance?

No, never. It's been next to useless ever since they nerfed it to proc only every 4 seconds and only on first target struck. It used to be really good back when it procd uncapped per target hit, but not so anymore.

You can even work it out mathematically that using swift slaying, you will refill your skill when fighting hordes faster just by having that extra 20% attack speed, instead of hoping for RNG to bless you with crits at a pace where they aren't cannibalized by the cooldown, and when you actually need them.

tl;dr

Don't use RC; Swift slaying is better.
For shields, use Opportunist instead of Off Balance.

I prefer swift slaying on nearly every weapon. Higher attack speed helps you to react faster and get less hits yourself, also you will get some career skill cooldown by dealing damage.
I only like resourceful combatant on the dagger for Pyro, she has a high crit chace, the dagger is allready fast and more or less a self defence weapon.

I guess for merc it can be nice with the talent "Helborg´s Tutelage" and fast weapons.

Resourceful is most useful on certain builds - eg, Kruber Halberd, which requires block canceling so much that SS doesn't really help it. It's also useful on builds that are close to the attack speed cap even without SS, like Slayer or sometimes Mercenary.

Personally I use it more then is technically optimal because I don't like my weapon speed changing all the time, but that's a personal taste thing.

Don't let the "Legend true solo" videos excite you too much: you can't see that macros and AutoHotkey etc. are used.
There are certainly talented players who play honestly. But if you follow this a bit more carefully, there have been players here and there who have removed the "True" from their video titles - or had to.

you get a little bit of cdr every time you hit an enemy.

ive only ever found RC better than SS as a dagger unchained. reason being, with the WOM changes they made it a easier to explode by removing her 30% cooldown trait, and SS becomes usless (in my case) because im always maintaining a red OC, getting the attack speed buff from the new WOM talent. with SS + the new AS tallent i cant even click fast enough to get the benifits of SS.

As a merc you'd probibly be building more meter by just attacking faster, so SS is prolly the better option

merc with 1h sword and recourcefull work great ! with paced strikes you dont need more attack speed, + 10% cooldown on item and you can spam ult pretty much ;)
i use this build for my kruber bot :broflex:
1h sword, dagger, dual daggers and rapier are usefull with rc, all other weapons are too slow for it

To add to what's already been said on the thread, Attack Speed is basically everything in this game. It means more damage, more time the enemies are swinging at you because they're reeling from you swinging at them, and ultimately more CDR for your abilities. As already stated, every time you hit something you get a little bit of CDR, and currently Swift Slaying will ultimately lend you more CDR than RC on top of much more DPS. Aside of very specific circumstances like those given by shields, where Opportunist is very helpful, there's basically no reason to ever run anything aside of SS on your weapon trait.
