ILLUSIONS - explained for fellow noobs

Illusions are transmogs aka make your weapon off the same type look in a diff style.

So say you have a Red level weapon but you like the look off the blue level style off the weapon more you can reskin the red weapon to look like the blue one.

Illusion are gotten randomly on weapons from crests. you then can extract the Illusion(skin) off the weapon though the crafting menu, then you can apply it to a weapon off the same type.

Let's say you get a weapon you like the look of. You can extract the 'skin' of the weapon and use it on a different weapon so it looks the same. The problem is that all the armor and weapons in the game look terrible so I wouldn't bother with it tbh unless you have bad taste =)

And just to explicitly state, they do not affect gameplay.

1. Illusions are just cosmetics, they do not make the weapon stronger.
2. Illusions are gained randomly by opening chests or vaults and will always be applied to a weapon when your get them. A exception is the illusions gained by owning the Bögenhafen DLC.

3. A weapon with an illusion will look different (duh) in your inventory and has a text that says "illusion".

4. You can remove an illusion from a weapon buy visiting the "extract illusion" tab under crafting, make sure your weapon is unequipped from all carers first. Stored illusions will only show up under the "apply illusions tab" also fund under crafting. You can only see stored illusions if you have a weapon without an illusion applied to it.

5. To apply a illusion to a weapon, make sure your weapon is unequipped from all carers first and the go to "apply illusion tab" under crafting.

Also there is no in-game way to preview what an illusion looks like, so you'll just have to try to remember or hope you can find a picture on the internet or spend the scrap.

but admittedly 10 scrap isn't really hard to get so mixed bag.

Personally I have what we'll call a distinct distaste for several of the design choices FatShark made in inventory management but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
