In-game breaking news
I think this is really bad idea because moving text distracts attention during missions.
Please, disable it while on a mission or make an option in settings to disable it.

When it works, we use it in very rare circumstances where we need the attention of players who are in-game. Right now it's broken though, hence the HTML you see. We're working on it :)

The whole thing is a little embarrassing...

You don't need to advertise things during gameplay/lobby, it's VERY intrusive and annoying and will probably result in people hating the whole game. We PAYED for the GAME, not commercial messages!

We haven't provided you with commercial messaging, as noted in another thread (and touched on above), the "breaking news" tool we use to convey downtime, patches, or interruptions which might cause adverse problems to the game has simply malfunctioned and returns some HTML which includes a domain URL where the breaking news text is typically stored. :) We'll have this solved soon once all the name servers are updated appropriately with the correct information.

They use it to warn you for upcoming patches that might disconnect you from the game etc

I still think it's a very bad idea to have distracting messages in-game. You really don't need this feature, please put the info in the launcher or somewhere else.

I understood that much, but it's still annoying and not necessary.

You had no idea what the messages were or how they were used. Now you are just sticking to your guns on opposing a feature that has been there from day one.

I haven't had HTML code scrolling on my screen until today, and I haven't seen a single message on the 300+ hours I have played the game (plenty of crashes though), so yeah, I oppose this "feature".

It's a bit necessary. Say you're in a match, but the back end goes down. Would you prefer we told you whilst you were playing and give you a chance to tap out early and go make a coffee, or right until you get to the end and get booted out because the service went offline during your match?

(I appreciate this can happen all the same due to unforseen errors, but if and when we know in time, which would you prefer?)

Yeah this is a bug that they are fixing. How difficult that is to understand?

Now you are demanding them to remove a feature that has been in the game from the beginning, just because it bugged out, rather than fixing the bug. That takes a special kind of stupid.

Does it really matter if I get a text telling me WHY I'll be booted, the end result is the same in any case.

It's not the same end result and you just had an example of why.

Look, I'm not here to argue, I just want to know when it's fixed so I can play again without distractions. And fyi, the end result is being booted out the game, having a text telling you why doesn't change that.
