My bad, I'm retarded and misread a bit. Either way, whether you leave it to them or get it yourself, what you should do is jump directly down to the ramp that's next to the grim area so that they are unable to path anywhere else, which will force them to teleport. Trying to get them to use the ladder to get back down is not a good idea.
I've personally had no issue just telling one of the bots to grab it and then leaving. The book will eventually teleport to the bot's pockets. I didn't wait for the bots to get in any position or anything.
That said there are a few books where that doesnt work as bots dont realize they cant get there. Athel tome 3 is one of those.
In Righteous Stand, I'd give bots 1st grim and then take the 2nd one by myself.
