Why do people keep suggesting a lizardman for a new hero?
Of all the forces of Order Lizardmen seem the furthest from likelihood. Yet people keep suggesting it no matter what forum I go on. Why do people want it or even think it's likely?

If Kerillian weren't already there, you would say the same thing about the likelihood of a wood elf being a playable hero. Lizardmen and Ratmen have a big conflict in the end times lore where the ratman crash Morrslieb (the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moon) down on the continent of Lustria.
Just to be clear I'm not calling for a new hero to be introduced, just adding one would mean adding a huge amount of dialog for every character.

No, because many of them live within the Empire's bounds, speak the language, and are considered rare and strange but mostly not bad. That's why they're a playable core race in WFRP, for example, adventuring alongside Humans and Dwarfs (and Halflings).

Lizardmen are very far away in a world where long-distance travel is difficult and dangerous, don't speak the language, don't fit the theme or aesthetic, would be considered a monster by everyone they encounter, and have much bigger problems with Skaven much closer to home.

Because people take it for granted since it is Warhammer and therefore MUST haveeverything since its a big universe without realising the various circumstances that prevent exactly those things.

I think it's because lizardmen are cool and humans aren't so much, i only play the dwarf for lack of a better option.

You could have a skink missionary find themselves in ubers due to an interpretation of the great plan due to how screwed Lustria is in this timeline. The skittergate was powerful enough to ferry people trans world so why would a slann not manage the same?

If the timeline for VT2 is 2524 then there's 1 year before the battle of Altdorf, in this time period Lizardmen are about to go extinct, vampries bring back Naggash, high elves are having a civil war, though Malekith and the darkelves also unite the 3 elf factions in Athel Loren at this time and start wiping out beastmen.

Meh, that's all i can be bothered to pull from wiki's, i still stand by lizardmen are cool and would be a welcome addition instead of another moustache wearing biped.

imo ogres or hobgoblin mercs would be more likely to work compared to lizardmen, and they already sound pretty insane to add. they should just make a halfling.

I want a Halfling hero-.

I guess we're talking about a Skink (smaller guys with blowguns), as the Saurus bigger warrior guys would be really big and hard to do justice. Warhammer Total War has the Lizardmen done very well where they're giant charging thrashing bundles of muslce. It's not the sort of thing I imagine you could really put in VT2 as a playable character.
Similarly same thing for Skinks to large extent that they would take a alot of work making their animations look natural in their movement, making their facial animations look natural and personable, and have their giant tails clipping into everything and so on. It's a lot easier to stick with more basic humanoid types of characters such as humans, dwarves, vampires.

There are a lot of easier options such as warrior brettonian knight, warrior priest, jade wizard (healer/buffer), amber wizard (summon pets, turn into some beast a bear or whatever), grey wizard, light wizard, celestial wizard (lightning spells), a vampire character.

Maybe a Orc or Goblin character, but that comes back to same issue of having to put a lot of work in to designing and creating a orc of the different body type, the different animations, making it not look like a janky mess with person playing it, facial animations, designing it to be personable. Not as bad as doing something like Lizardman but still why when can do other "human" stuff of humans, dwarves, elves, vampires.
Well I guess you can just do an Orc another thing is don't really need to do a face, like we didn't have face with kerillian in VT1 and we don't in VT2 for that matter.

Because they are dumb and have a very tenuous grasp on the lore.

You can play her as a Dark Elf though, you know... The raidery-Rapery Cold edge lords. They also live the same distance away as the Lizardmen. If not further because the Empire has a few colonies near Lizardman territory.

But she is not affiliated with the leaders or their general culture per se.
She is only larping as them on the order of Khaine the same way she is a Handmaiden not tied with Alarielle but Isha instead.

Fair enough, but a Lizardman Hero would be pretty cool. I think a new hero would help freshen the game up, or a new class for each hero would be cool.
Fryskar Mar 2, 2019 @ 5:09am
I'd say the likelyhood of new races for a hero are as below (lorewise and guessing on their positions/relations to Ü5)
Good: Humans ("good" alinged), Dwarf (non chaos), elf (not dark)
Unlikely: Halfling
Extremly unlikely: Norscan, Dark elf, Lizard men, Orge (simply too big, too much rework/exploiting/other problems)
Next to impossible: Orks, Skaven, Tomb King, Vampire, Chaosdwarf, Gobbos

Not going to bother with all human subfactions.

I don't think it would be. Throwing in everything and the kitchen sink for the sake of fleeting novelty, and sacrificing tone and authenticity in the process, isn't a good idea in the long run.

I don't think we'll have a new hero in the foreseeable future. It's a lot of work, and there's great chemistry between the U5 and throwing in someone else would likely end up like adding Poochy to Itchy and Scratchy. Introducing one new character would lead to the game being full of 1/4 lobbies for weeks.

I was there when it started. Also Lizardmaid is the best character.
