Also when a boss shows up, get it in the open, but still near a wall or something. Some of the narrow passages in this map are almost too narrow, and a boss will trap you easily with no where to run. Just make sure you are nearby a wall in case a horde spawns so you can put your back against if you neeed too.
Also listen to registered. He knows what he’s talking about. Good advice there. Remember in legend even if you get a soldiers or generals chest, you still have a much higher chance of getting red items than champion level.
Check the supply crates on the left by pinging them at range.
Go right, check supply
Get the tome
Stay on the rock wall until you encounter even more broken crates. Supply spot #3
Cross the center. Either go to the left of the rock-hill (slightly safer but slower) or go through the middle
STICK TO THE WALL again when going for the first grimoire
Proceed. Cross the valley to the right again at its thinnest point + check for supplies. Often you get ammo or meds in this location.
Get second tome, go as normal.
I have done it many times.
He is squishy and has only okeish melee weapons. I am not having that much fun playing it to be honest. Mostly because of every non-slayer melee weapon being decent, but none of them being great. I don't think he was overbuffed or is even particularly good at the moment.
The hardest part of the level is the sequence between the first tome and the first grimoire.
Most people just run through the middle of the map and get themselves surrounded and butchered.
There's two ways of doing it, either sticking to the wall to the right after picking up the first tome, and then bee lining it to the grim, or immediately go to the left wall after picking the first tome up.
special spam IS balanced, you're probably reacting too late. Here's a tip, they each signal when they appear. Don't react when the assassin is on your friend, start looking for him as soon as you hear him spawn.
Be smart, he can only come out of a few possible angles if you keep your back to a wall.
Also your comments about the ranger being bad are hilarious, not only are his weapons great, including infinite ammo shotgun if you'renot a terrible shot, he is one of three classes in the game that can RESET AGGRO with his ultimate. He can stand in smoke and wail on everything.
and here's a TL:DR : get good and stop whining
But I think AI behavior is messed up in this map. Specifically “ambient” enemies standing in the giant forest area between the first tome and grim.
First, their are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of them. Second, we’ve noticed something pretty consistent: these hordes of ambient monks, SV, choas warriors, they get PULLLED NO MATTER WHAT. This is why I think this section is really tough. There will be a horde and often a boss, AND during that crazy numbers pf ambients elietes, zerks and of course trash will stream in from all sides.
the hardest part of the level is the start, the ground is uneven and you can get stuck in that little stream. Then, there is a boss/patrol spawn in a narrow corridor.
after that is cake. The huge open area is a ♥♥♥♥♥ for blightstormers and gutter runners, but you can't really get trapped anywhere and ther is plenty of terrain to exploit.\
edit: oh yeah, and then there is that area with the vines. that area is a ♥♥♥♥♥ too, but then after that it's all cake.
So far today in PUGs i've run Athel Yenlui via quickplay three times (one of which I carried) and all of them we switched sides for the first grim fairly easily. It's possible if you're good.
Not a joke.
But I am curious to hear your opinion.
