Flame Sword vs. Dagger
Guys guys! The dagger is INSANE! For legend runs at least. I mostly used flame sword or even flail for "Royale w/ Cheese" bolt wizard. But I recently tried dagger and it is fantastic. That dps, that mobility, those heads poppin on infantry waves. And still pretty good THP regen on stagger with a heavy attack+bc. I like that I can instantly react to any threat in melee range.

What do you guys think? Maybe there are some critical flaws on dagger I dont know about?

First charge atk is slower and has more narrow atk hitbox compared to flame sword-slower thp generation, aside from this and that dagger has lower effective block angle this two weapons pretty much the same.

the flamesword has a larger heavy (and that heavy is the main reason people pick it)
the dagger is a bit better at dealing with armor, more mobile but has less defense and is worse in dealing with larger crowds, especially when armor is mixed into the horde.
the dagger is fun, i like it on a melee focused pyro a lot.

Dagger more AP on 2nd Charge and faster overall, Flame Sword more AoE sweeps and deep both good.

If you want dealing with armor crowbill is better, if you wanna stagger everything and oblitereate hordes - fire sword is better. Dagger give some mobility but less defence so choose ap weapon with anti-horde staff of visa versa is more profitable. And you forgot to mention that dagger is good vs bosses (not armored). And yes, tons of fun even if not the best choice.

Lower AOE of dagger make it much more risky choice, not to mention its worse block angle.

So yes, essentialy you trade your CC for dmg output. If you OK with that CC - sure, take dagger, you would enjoy it a lot. But i prefer to have flame sword, as with it i can stun chaos patrols when i cornered, while dagger cant do so, as it does not reach backline to interrupt attacks.

I also prefer the dagger to the flame sword for most of the reasons you listed. Because the intrinsic attack speed is so high I don't need to take Swift Slaying, like I do on the fire sword. Instead, I take Resourceful Combatant and increase the rate that my ult regenerates. It's really good, especially on pyromancer.

Dagger is awesome but it basically requires Opportunist + Push angle to control hordes and stop yourself from being flanked. Also, getting head shots with the 2nd heavy takes some practice. If you get that skill down though, it's got almost as much control as fire sword but no weakness against armor.

It's not the best weapon in the game, but it's my favorite, So fun to use.

Hate to break it to you, but with how RC functions (ever since the nerf), Swift Slaying is just flat out better. RC is a waste of a trait, even on Pyro, because the forced cooldown + target limit means so many crits go to waste in terms of skill generation. The only scenario in which RC is competitive with SS is when you are soloing a boss or chaos patrol and are reduced to hit and run tactics.

Even Opportunist and Parry are better choices.
