The best staff for Sienna?
What's the most powerful staff that there is for Sienna? And is it somehow tied to the particular class one uses? Like, are there different staffs recommended for certain careers.

Depends on your other equipment. Bolt staff is very good overall.

There is no best staff and i would argue choice is largely career independent, having more to do with the role you want to fill in a given group.

Conflagration staff is good for blowing up hordes of light infantry, but rather weak against armor and monsters. The left click is quite potent though, assuming you can land the headshots.

Fireball staff is similar in role to conflag but provides good monster damage on top, while sacrificing a bit of utility versus hordes.

Beam staff functions like a short range shotgun to blast hordes and a long range handgun that's heavily reliant on blasting heads. There are some extremely powerful battle wizard builds featuring it.

Bolt staff is mainly anti-special and anti-armor, having the ability to one-shot a lot of things even on high difficulties if you set your build right. However, it provides very little in terms of horde management.

I don't have much experience with the flameweave staff, but it should provided excellent short range horde management. However, you'll have to completely rely on your team for any long range kills.
Best all around staff is FB with barrage. Best on pyro or unchained. Handles everything well. Low oevercharge so plenty of spam potential. Worse vs specials but not horrible.

The alt fire has massive cleave, so with correct positioning you can easily kill 70-90% of the horde before they reach you with minimum heat.
Primary fire is effective enough against single targets to take them out rather fast.

It absolutely is devastating against hordes, you simply have to use it atleast a tiny bit to understand that.

Hey,

i never really found a way to use the beam staff in an effective way. But I am very much interested in testing new things.
So could you please explain some more detail about those powerful builds (talents, traits etc.)?

Thanks!

Depends on what you choose and how you play. On Cataclysm people tend to run the Bolt Staff due to its stopping power and penetration. Even on a fully charged shot you can kill shielded storm vermin. I know all staves can kill em, but this gives a full on dmg on hit and allows a swift kill rather than casting on them multiple times. I dislike the bolt staff mostly due to the downtime with Sienna as you sit and wait for the charge as you huddle around. Conflag staff is chosen for its AoE and DoT though most importantly its stagger. Beam staff is still the most flexible and has decent dmg its a given to understand its simplicity.
The fireball staff is overall the best in my opinion as I can still retain my ability to move, deal with hordes, stagger, and deal decent dmg to bosses. Its pretty much the only staff I am comfortable with to swap between because I can just toss out two charged attack then go back to whacking ♥♥♥♥ with my melee in the shortest amount of time. I feel like the staves above are just self explanatory and have been covered thousands of times. Remember FF is not much, but it adds up.

Now I see the flamestorm staff hardly ever mentioned mostly due to Sienna's lack of range when compared to her other staves. The flamestorm staff does not benefit from crits so don't bother trying to build around it and half of its traits are broken. The upside to this item is the best horde killing potential in the game, staggers when aiming towards the head on certain enemies, and it can be wiggled to hit several enemies. Its cheap to cast and maintain plus due to its fast attacks it helps you build up your career skill very quickly. For the love of Aqshy don't use Famished Flames on it it relies on its base dmg to kill hordes faster. The LMB attack deals slightly more damage and it acts as a tool to knock back and opponent, so if you think you are going to get hit during the charge up time let go and just puff. The dmg on it vs bosses is not too bad. Its mostly a fun to use staff that takes effort to pull off just right. Battle Wizard is the best in terms of cutting the distance if she needs to reach a target with her Flamewalk. In short it's a great CS skill build up, horde killer, and control staff. Once you get hit while you're already shooting it will stop it and its a pain as it leaves you open so it requires a bit of mastery of avoiding dmg to get the most out of it. Also the best FF staff as it hardly deals nothing to teammates and it takes effort to actually hit them. This staff is the worst in comparison to the rest, this is mainly used to have fun.

Personally I find the Fireball staff to be the flat out best one. Solod Legend (with bots) with all 3 versions of Sienna using it for the portraits. Personally I find all other staves to just be absolute garbage. The fireball staff easily eats away at hordes, Patrols and bosses all with ease.
I see a number of people use the Conflag but personally I never understand why as in the end game scoreboard I always see them doing literally no damage, Where as with the Fireball I am always way above double anyone elses damage.

Cause it's highest dmg in the game with dot build+crowd control. Also it's almost impossible to use fireball stuff with 3 players on cata without tones of FF

The Fireball staff definitely feels like the most flexible one, with a balanced performance.

Conflag is good for staggering and lighting hordes on fire, but it sacrifices performance against anything that isn't infantry, it seems.

Bolt has the best sniping/one-shot potential. But its normal attack feels really underwhelming to me. Also, it definitely sacrifices horde clearing potential (yeah, the secondary has crazy piercing potential, but it's a precision attack. It has a vary narrow hit area.)

I haven't really figured out how to best use the Beam staff. It just deals too little damage, over too long of a time, in my opinion.

Flamestorm seems the worst to me. Yeah, I can definitely see horde clearing potential, but it builds up overcharge insanely quickly, and has basically no range.

Hai hai! :steamhappy:

You'll need battle wizard with enhanced power and famished flames. Then equip beam staff with Barrage, PvChaos and PvMonsters, and equip charm with PvChaos and PvMonsters. If you keep blasting headshots with the beam attack, you should down a Legend/Cataclysm monster in about 1 full bar of heat. In practice, people who are really skilled can pull it off in a manner of seconds.

Conflag staff right-click also staggers armored enemies, so while it doesn't do a whole lot of damage, it's great against stacked armored enemies.

Are you using the beam blast or just holding the beam? While holding the beam on an enemy (preferably the head) tap the other mouse button and you´ll send a blast along the beam.
You can fire off multiple, longrange shotgun blasts in short time to snipe down specials fast from afar.

Huh, I didn't know that. Gonna have to try that out. Thanks!
