Dynamic Portrait frame here in Vermintide 2
Something I am a little sad about is the static and default portrait frame you have on the interface when you are playing the game Vermintide 2.

For example if you are playing Bardin as ranger then the icon its showing in the left screen is the default one. However my uniform and helmet are the rare one from Vermintide 1 where Bardin has the Ubersreik skin where is wearing helmet with horns and a chainmail armour.

Same goes with all the other character, a other example is Kerillian as a Handmaiden. When see the portrait for her, she has that purple handkerchief as a face mask, but my charcterer she wearning a metal helmet. I was just wondering if that could be possible to make them more dynamic, so its showed the current equipped character instead of all the default portrait frame or would that take to much progress power from either the CPU or GPU etc.

I just really want to see them in correct gear if possibly.

The issue with this, mostly, is that the class icon is a drawn picture, not an ingame render or anything. This means that they'd have to do an icon for each skin and hat combination in the game to ever get this right.

Yet he talks about dynamic icon< so it should, theoretically, use same resources, as your char model itself.

There is so much talk about how they should use their dev resources on this forum. So I will add my opinion on this one.

what you are suggesting I would consider complete and utter waste of development resources. It would also need additional time to get them fixed with the portrait frames, or it would make them obsolete. It would also affect on the performance of the low end machines or they should have different system. I do also rather like the drawn portraits.

But if you made them dynamic like that you'd lose quality. It wouldn't look as nice.

And besides aesthetics, there's development time spent on what's ultimately a very minor change that would require a great deal of effort, as Finwe pointed out.
And besides THAT, there's the fact that it might make it harder to tell what class a person is. I think it's quite useful right now that you can join a game in the middle of a horde, take a quick look to the left and immediately tell what class everyone is. Some helmets might make it tougher to tell at first glance (is that helmeted elf a handmaiden or a shade????)

I agree with this. Some of the handmaiden and shade helms are very similar, - if a player didn't already own them, it would be difficult to tell one from the other.

Yet OP said about YOUR OWN icon.

So your character would have a radically different portrait than the rest of the team? Genius.

No, he mentioned his characters as an example, but I'm pretty sure what OP wants is "the cosmetics currently equipped on a character should show up in their icon"

Well, i re-read OP and i still have same feeling, that he talks about player`s own icon first of all.
Anyway, my notions aimed to extend and clarify discussion, not to argue. Idea itself is not bad and i dont see much impact on performance that way, so... why not.

Well, it was a just a suggestion after all.

I am just a little sad that I cant see my uniform or helmet on my character. Its really a shame that you cant see your charcter in 3th person camera view.

You can hold X for that. Not while you move, but you can certainly take a look. Stay close to a wall for zooming in.

Because time and resources can be spent in other areas to greater effect.

Press X to view your character in third person. Problem solved.

I share this opinion.
