for dwarf I'd say drakefire pistols, shotgun on vet ranger (with his ult it's not terrible)
repeater handgun for merc and fk, however I'd just go with melee
for unchained I'd probably use the staff on trash so you can clear them quickly and to build up heat and then use your melee on the boss. Although, where you use your staff on doesn't really matter that much imo.
The Rate of Fire when combined with the WHC Ult and Potion, and Scrounger allow you to keep up a sustained rate of fire that does surprisingly good Miniboss damage.
I was shocked to be able to do 1500 boss damage on a Troll, and on another occasion even beat a Kruber Huntsman on a Chaos Spawn.
A sustained rate of fire without interrupt ends up doing an enormous amount of damage that I did not expect because there's no downtime or interrupt in the sustained damage.
Though I probably should have seen this coming, its what the Brace of Pistols used to be and no longer is capable of.
so fire pistol for dwarf
fireball staff for sienna
and blunderbluss for krub ?
Hagbane or volley for elf
Repeater hgun for soldier, though its aint that good compared to other careers monsterkillers.
Any of the drakefires with barrage, but flamer is more risky.
Beam or fireball with barrage for firegranny, beam is more risky but can snipe.
The list is made wo being career-specific in mind.
Also spear is a very good moster killer for an elf.
No. Even on Huntsman, that is by far the worst choice for boss damage.
For Merc and FKnight, you want the repeater handgun.
I suspect a lot of newbies but not all get this idea because theres a ton of old threads around in search where blunderbuss was excellent on bosses. Weapons have changed a lot since launch and I often see in games a lot of newbies talking about their builds based on advice/information they've gathered from reddit/steam forums that is like 8 months old or more and severely out of date in terms of accuracy.
Ranged weapons for boss dps are:
Hagbane, Brace of Pistols, Volley Crossbow (havent tested in a while but should still be decent), fireball staff, beam staff, repeater handgun (if you have good headshots, handgun/longbow work too for huntsman).
