halescourge the sorc is endboss from act 1 ( first 4 maps from top )
skarric spinethingy is skaven endboss act 2 ( athel, screaming bell etc up to into the nest )
bödvarr ripspreader is chaos boss act 3 ( against the grain up to warcamp )
after this with all that chaos you created within the enemy lines and rasknitt cut off from re-enforcements its time to visit the skittergate and eventually ending rasknitt.
Vermintide takes place in Reikland, the capitol province of the Empire. Our characters, the Ubersreik Five (or four, it doesn't matter), have seemingly defeated the Skaven Grey Seer Rasknitt in the imperial city of Ubersreik when they were caught prisoners by the "killed him and he ran away" ratman. They soon escaped their captivity with the help of Olesyia, an old kislevite magician, and made their base of operation in Taal's Horn Keep near Helmgart, another Imperial city. There, a man named Lohner (who may or may not be an Imperial spy and an old war hero) coordinates their efforts in combating the joint attack of Skaven and Rotbloods (norsemen who worship Nurgle, god of decay). Their main goal is to close off Skittergate, a portal made by skaven which allows Rotbloods to bring their whole army to the Empire. *spoilers now* They make a dent in various efforts of the Pactsworn to take hold on Reikland as well as defeat their three leaders, after which they proceed to defeat Rasknitt himself, destroying Skittergate in the process and dealing a heavy blow to the Pactsworn. Will this save Reikland? Who's to say..
In Shadow over Bogenhafen, the Ubersreik Five is sent to town of Bogenhafen to figure out what is happening in the city. It turns out that it was invaded by Pactsworn under the guise of Carnival of Nurgle, Nurgle worshippers acting as a band of entertainers. They locate and take Blightreaper, a powerful runic sword enchanted with Nurgle's magic.
That's the doing of Caravan of Nurgle, or so I assume; the people are off having fun indoors while the Pact operates on the streets. It is a bit far-fetched, true, but there are precedenses (precedents?); in Stromdorf, back in VT1, people were having fun inside the inn when the Ubersreik Five fought skaven outside.
Skaven are known for taking cities by surprise, too.
Additinally to get more of the story you have to ask Oleyssa after each mission so she can tell you about the aftereffects etc.
1. Try to berate someone for not knowing the plot of the first game.
2. Proceed to badly misspell the first game's title.
As for Caravan or Sheepfestival, okay. Somehow I failed to talk with Olesya even once since the DLC came out.
Stories are essential to a lore and VT1 is 1 chapter of many predecessors and/or foretellings of something continous (dont ask me am no warhammer nerd) specially if you are new to this dark fantasy world, and totally worth it too
nice to know, will get books as I can, great story neverthless of previous knowledge to story, am just waiting for Hollywood to make movie :P
