Huntsman or Bounty Hunter?
Wanted to use a class that can be used as a "Anything Goes / General" class, do people only use Huntsman purely for specials or bosses?

BH has relative medicore damage to boss. But good and easy achieveable ammo sustain (before beta patch). He can run whole level, do most kills and never take meelee weapon.
Salts' meelee is realtive weak (before and after patch), and BH has no good meelee talents.
Huntsman stronger in shooting, but lose all ammo fast, if start shooting everything he see.
But Huntsman have sccess to all kruber's weaponry - including halberd, shields. New buffed 1h sword.

After the Beta patch both of them suck.
BH lost all ammo sustain, and got nothing in exchange, no good meelee, not even good healing traits. That why he is worst pick now.

Huntsman after patch got his bow broken (something changed, it become not comfortable and extremely slow and lumberfooting).
Huntsman has okay survivability and health sustain with Sword'n'Shield and Stagger talent. Or okayish killing power with halberd (no healing, sigh)
~Same range power, same ammo sustain, same boss damage. Only exception, learn to use rifle or repeater.

In the end, Huntsman is better after patch.

No, his bow is strong in its versatility. Combined with invisibility i would say that huntsman is more suited for being all-arounder.

so Bounty Hunter is more suitable for boss hunting?

he is more suitable for fast killing. But he lacks of both good antihirde melee weaponry and safemove, that let him evade being surrounded if things go south.

IN fact, boss killing is again hunter`s priority. Just his killspeed vs field targets is lower.

I've seen Huntsman obliterate bosses before, but that was a while ago so it may not be possible to make that build anymore. BH can be set up in such a way that you can go through an entire round and never use your melee weapon. I haven't tried that build in the balance beta yet, but what I've seen made it sound as if there is little difference. I have yet to understand huntsman and what he can do but I played a lot of BH. He's not the best on bosses but the little things he can do can have a huge impact on a fight.

Again, this is the build I used on legend before the balance beta so I can't say for sure if it is still good.

Talents, left to right top to bottom.
1, 3, 2, 2, 2

2h sword: 5% crit/speed, swift slaying

single shot xbow: 5% crit 20% crit power, scrounger

neck :2 stam, 20% health, boon

charm: 5% speed 20% crit power, decanter

trinket: 33% curse res. 5% crit, grenadier

One of the most useful things he can do is stagger a warrior with every shot from SSxbow. So even though you're doing very minimal damage it can save a team mates ass in a pinch. If you get really good you can juggle 2 of them. I found myself taking advantage of that A LOT. With the 2h sword you have the potential to cut down hordes like a lawn mower cuts grass. You just need to practice getting the rythm going.

If you want a class of the style "anything goes" you shouldnt pick Huntsman or BH then since they are specialised ranged classes.

For a class that can be generally good in everything while not being special about it (doesn't mean they are bad, some of them are OP) would be Kruber's Mercenary, Kerillean's Handmaiden or Salt'z WHC.

I'd recommend taking Flail/2Hsword+crossbow Zealot. Good horde clear, good special killing, one of the hardest to kill characters in the game, and a dash for those really bad moments. There is nothing he is weak at.

I haven't tried it yet but they only reduced cleve on xbow. Even with it reduced you should still be able to get multiple bolts back for the price of one if you shoot into a tightly packed horde. Before balance beta with scrounger it was possible to get 10-15 bolts back with only one shot, because every enemy you pierced counted as it's own separate crit, which would get the scrounger proc multiple times. I imagine it's less than 10 now, but as long as you're getting more bolts back than you fired it's a good thing.

I had run with both of them on beta branch and ther eis no difference for BH before and after. REally. Cleave reduce is so low so it is closer to joke.

For huntsman it is somehow other way. You need to keep an eye on your ammo all the time. YOu still can get all ammo back by 1 ult even from 0, so its not critical

Never liked salz that much, his weapons seem lackluster/strange somehow...

Bh still has good ammo sustain, my friend was shooting from beginning to end last night when we played a few games.

BH with hunter on crossbow and free shots for the level 15 talent is much closer to a general use class than huntsman. The buff to melee damage is very noticeable, allowing you to kill hordes with ease and making elites much quicker to deal with. If you're really after a pure ranged then either with an ammo sustain setup is fine.
